I have been injecting thighs alot recently.
The weird thing about Thighs is often times when you inject it seems as you nicked a nerve or vein.
I usually have my knee at an 150 degree angle and do this while sitting on my bed.
If your knee is at a 90 degree angle it seems to cause more trouble or hurt more often.
Anyways what I do is I slightly pinch the skin in the area I wanna inject, with my knee still at 150 degrees, and quickly inject just until the needle has penetrated the skin. At this point I still have about .75" of the needle to go and I sit still and slowly press deeper. You may get the sensation you hit a vein, but just relax, hold it there (very lightly aspirate often) then keep pushing. Once you are about halfway in you will feel it hit the muscle. It kind of hurts but gently push it all the way in the muscle very slowly.
With the needle just barely touching the muscle not all the way in, I very very slightly shake the needle to get that last half in and it usually helps reduce the pain and helps the pin pierce the muscle without pressing too hard. The shaking I'm talking about is very gently almost like a vibrate. The pin stays in the same position, but the tiny shake helps push it all the way in.
The main thing is inject very slow, and if your leg is bent 90 degrees, straighten it out more until you feel its comfortable enough to go in easily. Also the site of injection can be many places on the thigh, but the sides have more nerves, so I like to go right in the middle, between the knee and the groin, on the front side.
Outer upper like most people say, always has me hitting nerves. So I stick to the center of my thigh. I can also see all the veins so its easy to pick a spot and avoid the veins.
Hope this helps
