Home Gyms

Hey all...ok, I need to get one. I just don't have the time to get to the gym right now...actaully its been that way for a couple years and I'm watching all of my hard work disappearing so being able to get up at 5:45 and have my workout done and be showered and ready for work by 7:30 just makes WWAAYY to much sense for me right now. I'm not looking to put on a shitload of mass, I just want to keep what I'v got left.

So far the Bowflex Revolution with the weight upgrade and a set of their 10 - 90lb and 5 - 50lb dial dumbells and a few accessories looks the best...OVERALL.

The BEST one that I've found so far is the much more expensive Titan T1 with the Bowflex Selectec Dumbells. This one has two big disadvantages.
1. Price
2. Weight - I'm having an architech come look at the loft in my house where this stuff is going to see how much weight it can hold.

I think I can get the Bowflex Revolution minus the Dumbells for ~$1750 brand new and I think I can get the T1 also minus the dumbells for ~$3000 brand new.

Anyone have an opinion or a bunch of them...or anyone know of some alternatives?

If you get a power rack, bench, and barbell set with dumbells, you'll pay a third of what you will pay for that junk you want and you'll get better results.

This one is a bit more costly but it has essentials to it such as a wide base and 1 inch spacing of the holes in the bench region.

Or without the bench which i would get, since their bench can't go incline or military.

Thanks guys....money really isnt an object although at the moment space and weight is which is the only reason I was considering the bowflex. I run an IT company out of my home which means I've got about 128hrs of work to squeeze into ~20hrs, along with the obligatory SSS every morning, meals, bathroom, workout, etc. The only place I had space was in the upstairs loft that overlooks the Master Livingroom and it's not a large spot and i doubt it could hold much more them 1500 lbs.

but anyway, thanks for the responses and especially for the tact...its clear as mud that we still have a bunch of kind people combin the halls instead of a bunch of roided out meatheads that cant control their emotions or tongues for the love of the needle.

I tried the whole home gym lifestyle and couldnt get the same motivation I get in the gym. I guess I just like the whole gym atmophere.

Good to know its just not me. Every time I get ready for a home workout I just cant seem to get the aggression and buzz I do in the Gym. wonder why this is???

i am the opposite. I don't like working out with other people. This is probably because most of my lifting has been in a gym where I know most of the people and its hard to get any work done. Recently I've joined a new gym and this problem isn't nearly as bad.

i home gym, just have a power rack + lat pulldown, dumbells etc, good quality bench with extras, treadmill, bike, punchbag, and plenty lbs ( not ladyboys).

was gonna get one of those fancy home gym things about 6 months ago, so glad i didnt.

home gyms are puke, why would u spent that kind of money when a gym membership is about 20.00 a month.. I could never workout at home just because Its so hard to lift by myself. guess im just the type of guy that I love it when people watch me lift! haha

Home gyms are great, it's one of the two gyms I lift at. We have DBs, power rack, competition bench, a DL platform a lat pull down machine, lots of bands, and chains... All ya need :D

Right on....

Well things have change a little, I've been able to expand and hire some help so I've been able to get back into the gym after work....so I guess it was a false alarm, however, I do think that I would LOVE to have a home gym for those days I'm too busy or not feeling like going out or gettin sick, like I am right now, and unlike whoever gave me this, NOT WANT TO EXPOSE MY CONTAGIOUS SELF TO OTHERS.

I have a home gym, and providing I have the equipment I need for the specific training of the day, I prefer to train at home rather than in the gym. It saves gas, money and time. Everything is real primitive, I welded the weights and other equipment myself from industrial surplus material and shipwrecks, but the material is high quality stainless steel and inox. I find a low-budget basement more motivational than a fancy gym.

Also, I think the fact I actually built it myself, heightens my motivation and interest in using it. And having some equipment 'in your face' always puts me over the edge when I consider skipping a workout.
