Hormone panel

Hey Guys,

I want to get blood tests before, during and after my cycle to compare and be safe.

I am going to get them from privatemdlabs.com and was told in another thread to get the female hormone panel.

On privatemdlabs I looked at the "Hormone Panel for Females" and this is what it has:

Description: Menopause is the time in a woman's life when menstruation stops permanently. Most women go through menopause between ages 45 and 55. In the US the average age for menstrual periods to stop completely is 51.

This panel will help diagnose the onset of menopause. Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

Includes:
-Estradiol, serum;
-Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH);
-Luteinizing Hormone (LH);
-Testosterone, serum;
-Complete Blood Count (CBC): Hematocrit; hemoglobin; mean corpuscular volume (MCV); mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH); mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC); red cell distribution width (RDW); percentage and absolute differential counts; platelet count; red cell count; white blood cell count; immature granulocytes.
-Comprehensive Metabolic Profile (CMP): A:G ratio; albumin, serum; alkaline phosphatase, serum; ALT (SGPT); AST (SGOT); bilirubin, total; BUN; BUN:creatinine ratio; calcium, serum; carbon dioxide, total; chloride, serum; creatinine, serum; globulin, total; glucose, serum; potassium, serum; protein, total, serum; sodium, serum.

Patient Instructions: Patient should fast for 12 hours preceding collection of specimen. If using a testosterone cream please be sure you have not rubbed any into the antecubital area of your arm for the last 24 hours as it can give elevated results.

Is this the correct one? Also it says it is for females, will they be weird about it when they see I am a guy or does it not matter?

Thanks

i'm sure they will be think it's weird... but it does matter to you what they think?

This is over 100 dollars more so if I am getting the correct results from the Female I can deal with them looking at me weird to save some money.

Unless you guys think the Male Panel is better.

You won't get the lipid panel with the female hormone panel, but I believe you can order the lipid panel as a separate item and it still comes out cheaper. Just make sure that after you order the female panel, when you come to the registration page, you check that you are a male. This way your test results will come back with the normal male ranges.

Which test do you get? Regular or the one with Estradiol?

I need to get one done before my first cycle.
I also think is weird to have a Female Hormones Panel if you are a male, but hey... I trust these guys. I just really hope the lab people wont laugh their asses off when I ask for it. Brefore I knew it was the test requiered I would have laugh if I know a male is getting that test done

The name Female or Male Hormone Panel doesn't show up on your order at Labcorp, the computer only lists the tests and draws they need to do. Just make sure you register as a Male on the site when you place your order.
