How do you increase your food intake????

Okay I know this may sound like a stupid question...but seriously...a guy can only eat soo much.......I try to eat as much as possible and do it like every two hours....but I just can't seem to make myself eat as much as I think that I need to...how do you guys do it???? The only thing that I can figure is my body doesn't think that it needs as much food because I'm feeding it what it needs...instead of a bunch of fast food and crap.....I eat anywhere from 6-7 times a day......starting the day off with a HUGE breakfast...I figured would stretch my stomach for the day....letting me eat more through out the day...but it appears to me that I am wrong...or is this a common problem.......or can two entirely different people make the same amount of gains...with one eating less than the other???? Because of the difference in metabolisms???? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated...

I think looking at people that do competitive eating would be a good idea. There was a 130 lb Japanese guy that ate 50 hotdogs AND buns in something like 20 minutes. That's 12,000 calories in one shot!

I'm no expert, and I probably should refresh my knowledge on the subject, but when these guys eat, they push themselves all the time. You'd see them go out to dinner and order a 5 lb steak, and some of the guys would be sick sitting there finishing it. It isn't pretty, but it's kind of like lifting...if you don't push yourself, you won't improve much.

you can trick yourself into eating more if you can drink the calories. So you can make a smoothie out of some real foods and drink it down, and that will help you stretch your stomach easier (since you might get too sick to let yourself chew and swallow some more food). A couple cups of whole milk, some honey or peanut butter, and maybe add some other things....you get the idea.

Good idea Frosty with the protein shake. You can get a lot of calories into a shake if you add peanut butter and flax oil and what not. :)
I personally don't believe in stuffing yourself..hehehe. What I find works for me if I'm trying to eat more is by adding in 100-200 calories to each of my meals and increasing it as my body adjusts to the extra calories. It sucks when you're forcing yourself to eat.

Take a multivitamin in the morning with a decent sized breakfast, It should increase your appetite.

I really do not know but it does. My doctor said that because you normally get vitamins from food, some nutrients in the vitamin may increase appetite but he did not seem to have a great explanation either.

I take a shit load of vitamins a day....I dunno....I think it's because I switched over to trying to eat as much real food as possible, and only drink a shake before and after the gym....I used to eat about 2 protein bars a day and 2-3 shakes...and 3 real meals....now I try to eat like 5 real meals a day plus a shake before and after the workout...

As far as eating 50 hotdogs in 20 minutes I dont think that would help a weight lifter. The idea bahind making your body grow and burn fat revolves around eating 5-6 times a day. So 15,000 calories in 20 minutes isnt really efficient. He probably shit it all out in a matter of hours!

Haha, yeah, that's true. I was just showing that you have to stretch your stomach to eat more. I'm sure this guy could eat 8 large meals a day if he really wanted to. That can become useful if you're a "hardgainer" and want to get big. All you need to do is train your stomach to handle it.

Also, stick to calorie dense foods like peanut butter, eggs, milk, wheat bread, flax oil, wtc. These foods all have a lot of calories per serving.

I was once a low eater and would just eat twice a day. But after I began working out, I've been gobbling foods and foods every 3 hours or less. It's bec. I have a high metabolism and I'm usually active on sports and stuff. So I get hungry everytime and then.

Don't eat when you're you're not hungry. For me that is. That would make ya loose appetite(for some that is)
Eat only when you're hungry and stuff yourself, then rest, then get busy(like goin out with friends, basketball and stuff like that.) Tiring one's body would make one hungry.

Been doin that for a long time.

Now I'm eating like 5 meals a day. That is without snacks yet. :)

That's my opinion

My first bulker made me feel disgustingly full, you get used to it after awhile. This is why its easier to adjust in smaller increments, dont go from 2500 calories to 5000 overnight.

so would you say it's okay to drink 3 shakes a day that are around 800 calories a piece......about 60 grams of protein 40-50 grams of carbs......and about 20 grams of good fats....
