Not to mention that's when most of your endo GH is produced. If you can't get the sleep you need at night, I find small naps throughout the day very effective. Hell, even if you do get enough sleep I think small naps help a lot.
Sleep is important for obvious reasons, however if you can't get quite enough each night, it won't hinder your gains significantly. Getting no sleep at all is bad news though. I've read at least one study that shows it can raise cortisol significantly.
Sleep is important for proper brain function as well as enrgy and to help the muscles recover. It is extremely important whether lifting or not. I know it's hard with the internet though, lol. Most people only need 7-8 hrs. I can only sleep sound for like 6 hrs.
