I was in the gym yesterday working out doing reverse grip bench for tris. When I got home and went to lift my arms over my head my left shoulder was reak stiff. IT hurt, not to bad but It now has a super limited range of motion.
If yo were to put your arms up as if you were going to do dumbbell shoulder press. I can lift the right arm all the way but the left arm can only up about 2 inchs before it can go anymore. Could this be something serious? Should just take a week of and see what happens? I have been lifting over 10 years and never had a injury before.
Please give me advice on what I should do. I can do big circles with my arms, little circles, presses straight forward that doesn't hurt but over head movements hurt, anything I have to lift my arm over my head, I ca't even put my collar down on my shirt with that arm.

Hey ive got the same problem. It occurs every now and again. If i was you go see the doc..I did mine when i was doing my national service in SA..It comes and goes..I find heat spray works as well as a hot or cold pack..Wait for it to heal before training shoulders or you'll make it much worse..I made the mistake of trying to train once, and it took like 2 months to heal properly..

First off - take some time out of the gym and let it heal! I have experiened bad shoulders and it's not fun! If it continuesto hurt see a doctor. But a work of advice - never let them give you cort nor let them cut you! If they want to start cutting - leave. Do some research on 'prolotherapy'. I had it done to both shoulders and glad it I did!

hey now you can focus on squatting and pulling deads. I injured my shoulder a couple of years ago and had to take 12 weeks off from upper body work. my squats and deads went up nicely.

It is feeling alittle better. I did cardio today and hit th bag and did jump rope that seemed to loosen it up a bit.But once I got cold is was sore agian. But evn before working out it felt alttiel better.
Only good thing was I was going to take this week of from the gym weightd wise on next monday I will tes the waters but change up my routine.

what should I do for shouders without directly hitting them with overhead movements while still building mass?

Rest and Ice. When you DO start back to lifting upper body, be sure to heat it up very well and warm it up (stretching and all) before you even consider lifting a weight.
