I love sugar!

I've come to the conclusion that I'm a sugar addict. No, really. That shit is like crack to me. People keep telling me I need to intake more protein but that's bullshit.

I can have 300g of protein a day and I still wanna eat about 279 bars of chocolate, 27 bowls of ice cream and wash all that shit down with about 10 gallons of root beer (hell, I probably wouldn't mind taking a gallon of vanilla ice cream and turning that into a big-ass float). lol

Does anyone have a suggestion to help curb my cravings? Of course I don't eat that much sugar as listed above but it is VERY difficult for me to fight this, so any suggestions will be appreciated.

The best I've ever been able to do on a diet was one can of soda and 1/2 pint of ice cream once a week with my cheat meal and this was EXTREMELY difficult for me. It did work however as I cut about 5% bodyfat in a little over a month.

I think the best way to do it is to just cut it out all together because I find the more sugar I have the more I crave it.

Adding extra protein does dick-all. Believe me....I've been there. I too am a sugar addict. It's like crack and meth to me. These people will never know what we go through....you can't truly know unless you are an addict like us.

That's nothing.......I can have 300 g protein and I still want 972 choc bars, 72 bowls of ice cream with cherries, whip cream and choc sauce and I can wash it down with about 100 gallons choc milk!!!

I chew sugar free gum on a regular basis......lots of crystal lite and tons of diet pop. Sugar substitues.....aspartame, stevia and splenda....my best friends ever.

OMG... i thought i had some kind of isolated addiction!! i can pass up fat and salt junk-wise... but STILL cannot shake the sugar-monster no matter what... EVEN during contest prep!!! (i am so ashamed). i spend my day trying to off-set or prevent these cravings with fruit and complex carbs, but find myself functioning on the border of hypoglycemia! i thought perhaps i wasn't eating enough complex carbs through the day (and the deficit was catching up with me at NIGHT time).. or perhaps my training & long cardio sessions were inducing this crazed state..

but perhaps this is more a product of our present day dietary manipulation & marketing.. all the food processing & the years of eating it.. i was 41 years old before i seriously decided to take up arms against it.. atleast in my own life... and each day i wake up with new resolve and try to exercise the maximum control over this problem.. i would love to find something that honestly EFFECTIVELY reduces these cravings... (metformin???)...

and altho i'm on GH right now (which definitely makes this problem a little worse).. i still battle it when not on the GH. i can't even get thru a gym workout without feeling like i might pass out from hypo! yesterday i had a good meal before training (with ample complex carbs) & i brought blueberries to the gym.. i couldn't even get through my 2 hours of training (weights and cardio)--- i had to eat the berries then sit and wait for my body to process them before i could continue training.

well OP... you're DEFINITELY not alone. i have incredible discipline and fight this battle daily... i will be watching this thread for sure.

OK Miss Muscle, I'll see your 972 choc bars, 72 bowls of ice cream with cherries, whip cream and choc sauce and I can wash it down with about 100 gallons choc milk and raise you with a chocolate sauce I.V., 5 cans of whip cream (and you KNOW I'm suckin' the nitrous out of the can after it's done), 27 home-made blueberry pies, and two 5-lbs. bags of sugar straight. Yeah! Bring it! lol

Seriously, thanks for the Crystal Lite tip; I'm not down with diet soda but I have had Crystal Light before and I remember that I actually liked it. I live in Taiwan so I'll need to check and see if I can get it here for less than 10 bucks a glass though.

I seem to remember reading a post somewhere on here about a study which concluded that artificial sweeteners are worse for you than actual sugar. Do you have any thoughts on this? It's kinda good to know I'm not alone with this problem.

yes.. i believe chemicals (and chemically altered foods) definitely interfere with optimal metabolic processes in the body ...wish i had the data----anybody???. To what degree is likely dependant upon many factors.. including quantity, the cleanness & balance of your diet in general, your state of health/illness, etc. If I must have sugar, I prefer to use steiva (did i spell that right?) or demara cane sugar. BUT-- that's when i can afford them. if i haven't any, i will probably be chowing down fruit-juice filled jelly beans in between my meals to get my fix.. lol

When you talk about the steiva and demara, are you referring to raw sugar? I'm going to try and cut down to 1 dessert a week for my fix. I've done it before; it sucks but it makes a big difference when I cut. I've already picked my cardio back up but I can only lift 3x week because I'm working 60-65 hrs. a week now, so as soon as that ends next month, I should have everything dialed in...

yes.. my trainer believes that it's best to have the real thing rather than chemicals. demara cane is just unprocessed and so contains much more flavour & minerals. but control is still an issue (a carb is a carb).. i just use a tiny bit... most people wouldn't even consider it a cheat, but it is really. steiva is my first choice when close to a show, but most people have to acquire a taste for it.

and people wonder why i like my high fat diet.
does the phrase stable blood sugar levels mean anything too any one?

i'll take my round chuck and whole eggs with avocados on the side, thanks.

also if i were too eat chocolate, i typically have cocoa bars that are in the 85+% range of cocoa. and use honey or maple syurp over other sugary processed shit.

i would think fruit would be a better alternative though than any sugary processed food also.
