BD-

I have a question. Last August I developed eczema...basically every place that I shave. My mother read somewhere that protein powder can cause this. I did switch to Beverly around that time last year. My husband had a similar rash around his eyes, and was drinking myoplex until August when we switched. Any truth to this that it could be the protein powder? Any ideas what specifically could cause this?
Thanks!

RS,
Eczema is essentially a hypersensitivity reaction of the skin, or atopic dermatitis. The hard part is figuring out what caused it!
Sometimes it's only through the process of elimination and reintroduction that we can figure it out. That is, we stop the shaving lotion of soap we're using, or look for any new cosmetic or cleansing agents being used, etc, etc. And as you did, eliminating any new internal products as well, like protein powders.
Eczema is much more common in people with asthma, aspirin allergy, things like that. Is that you guys??

Nope. Neither if us have any allergies to any meds, or asthma.
I changed shampoos, soaps, shave creams, etc...it didn't seem to help, so I'm confused.

Those have all remained the same.....

THe thing that I find most perplexing is the fact that I have it everywhere I shave!! WTF??? There is a spot on my arm and oneon my neck that are the only exceptions.

I've been to the dermatologist,, and she only gave me cream to help combat the itching. I'm just so surprised that there isn't some sort of oral I can take that can help with outbreaks.
