If I increase my 1 rep max on squats by 130 lbs.. would my calves grow?

I do jack shit in terms of isolating the calves at the moment, I squat and deadlift though.

So I mean if I could squat 450 lbs wouldn't my calves grow regardless?

Most likely, i believe calves are the stabilizers in the squat. Kind of like how forearms grow when your bench goes up. Imo though, calves are pretty much genetic for most people. You either have them or you don't

If you want calves to grow, you have to work them. 2 sets, twice a week...real fucking heavy.

I have just recently started working calves twice a week with no problems. But I do more sets and often go to failure. The calves can take alot.

What is tough about calves is it's so easy to cheat. Those bendable kness make for moving a lot more weight than the calves could push alone. It's all about heavy and that solid contraction. Every rep needs to hurt.

stop worrying about calves growth. just keep doing them and they'll grow! calves are very stubborn due to it being used 24/7 in walking and running, etc.

also freaking genetics x.x :dunno:
