important question about melting points

The melting points, they are to decide to that temperature melt the hormones truth? But this it is done to know as to do the disolucion (measuring the temperature of the I liquidate) or for know if the hormone in question is the one that is supposed that should to be? that is to say for do a test of temperature... If it is for the disolucion, together al is measured aa - ab once heated truth? sorry for my ignorance.
if its only for determine real quality of the powders, how can i do it?

i have investigated about, and for know the purity of the powders works...
for that thing, can use a vitroceramic and a infrared thermometer????
and the melting points not needed for correct disolution???
