I have been reading the the encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding by arnie and was wondering what u guys thought about the level 1 training program he has set up because i wanted to start it tom...it looks somethin like this

Mon Tues Wed Thurs fri sat
chest shoulders thighs same as same same
back upper arms calves mon as as
forearms lower back tues wed

my question is, is it alright to do bi's and tri's the next day right after chest and back?

Mon = chest, back

Tues= shoulders, upper arms, forearms

Wed= thighs, calves, lower back

Thur= same as mon

Fri= same as tues

Sat= same as wed

No. Definitely not a good idea. You need time between the two workouts. I think most would agree with me on this one. I also think that a 6 day routine is far too much, and you will very soon feel the signs of overtraining on that routine.

how was he so succesful on this routine.... and this is only the begginer routine. he has a more elaborate one for advanced people.

this routine may work for a professional bodybuilder that lives eats and breathes bodybuilding. for the rest of us that have to deal with family school and other things that we do throughout the day this routine would be impossible to keep up effectively. pro builders have 24hrs a day to worry abt body building so they can get 12 hrs sleep a day and not have to worry abt it. so in my opinion this routine can only work for you if you have 24hrs of a day to devote to it

some follks are born with ungodly recouperative powers. this is a small % of the folks.

yes that does look much better BTW

the above routine could be done even with average genetics if you went heavy first three days then light the second three days. the exercises them selves need to be moved around a bit to make sure you are getting at least 48hrs rest between body parts.

somethig like this
d1: legs
d2: chest tris and delts (front and side delts only)
d3: back, bis and rear delts
d4 off

repeat routine except make this the light cycle. three on 1 off. three on 1 off.

to be honest though this is a lot to keep up with and i believe you will get better results from a three day/week split. keep it simple and you will be happier. this aint rocket science. it is hard work and training even when you aint at the gym. eating and sleeping are just as important as lifting. neglect one of the three and you aint gonna make much progress.
