Input for a custom mix

Hey Gang,

I'm having a rediculously difficult time getting my calories in during the day, and was thinking about a custom mix from Trueprotien. The problem is I'm not sure about the carb part of it.

My plan is to get most of my protien/carbs in from drinks as my work schedule is just too crazy to rely on having access to the right food when I need it. I'd do 6 drinks per day, adding the protien and carb mix together, and it would get me fairly close to my goal, catching the rest of my meals and snacks.

What types of carbs would you recommend putting in the trueprotien carb mix?

As for my personal goals, I'm 5'7" and currently 151 pounds. I'm a hard gainer! I'll lose a pound a day if I don't stay religious on my workout. I'm not getting near the calories though. I'm trying to get 2700+ per day, 30-35% protien, 50-60% carbs and 10-15% fat. I'm not trying to do this professionaly, just want to add around 15 lbs. of muscle and stay at the 9-10% body fat.

I've been working out on and off for years, but just recently started to actually learn about how it works, so if I'm missing something important, please let me know!

Thanks a ton!!

order a protein blend like the teamskip blend.

ground up some oatmeal in a blender.

mix.

you could also add olive/canola/flax/or fish oil, peanut butter, fruit, etc.

for PWO i like the waxy maize starch.

Maybe cuz your diet is focused around protein shakes.

They are a supplement, not the staple of a diet.

Correct, the protein shakes have been my primary source of protein. I'm getting 3 good meals in per day, with 2 or 3 snacks in the middle, but it doesn't get me to the numbers I need.

My question then would be, does it matter where the protein/carbs come from? Is the protein from a piece of chicken impact me more than a shake? And do good carbs from oatmeal/wheat toast work out different than those from a shake? If so, this is gonna be very difficult!!

Thanks :)

3 real food meals + real food snacks + a shake or two is not going to be a problem.

If shakes is the only way to get the cals in, then you dont really have any other choice. But generally real food is better than shakes. I try to only use shakes when I cant get real food in, or after a workout.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm going to have to do more than 1 or 2, but I guess it's better than nothing

The meals aren't hard, it's all the in between eating that's tough for me to pull off. I'll give it a try and see how the next couple of months goes.

Thanks again :)

I wouldn't use any powdered carbohydrate in a custom blend except maybe during and/or post workout. They spike your insulin too much. I am also partial to the teamskip blend from trueprotein. For carbs in your shakes, rely on the lactose in skim milk, some fruit, and oats.
