i was wondering if the 5x5 routine is gonna give me the best "bang for my buck" so to speak.... it looks good and it seems as though a lot of people have liked it... but is there any other work out thats better?

There is no best workout. The 5x5 is very useful and works for many including myself for some bodyparts and some excersizes. Some.

It's well wortha try but keep in mind nothing works for everyone and nothing work forever.

If your just starting to lift anything will work for you so just try the 5x5 and eat alot of food then after about 3 months you can try something else. It's all guess and check baby

If you think doing the same thing all the time can qualify as the best, then you need to keep researching. You also need to define what "the best" means, if you mean for strength - no. If you mean for hypertrophy - no. If you mean for endurance - no.

5x5 isnt bad
we also have plenty of routines posted at the top of the forum in the stickies..

the BEST routine is the one that alllows you to achieve YOUR goal

DC is my favorite. I've done 5x5 and liked it but I hit plateaus rather quickly. DC however I have not as of yet but have only been doing it for a short time. Quicker strength gains for me as well especially in the leg and back department.
