I hear alot of people say, dont eat ALOT dirrectly after a workout, that you should wait 2 hours, but DO get a protein shake and or creatine dirrectly (obviously) your muscles will be craving nutrients, but If you have a BIG meal is that bad? For instance, dirrectly after my workout tonite, I ate the following....

Protein/Creatine shake will skim milk.
A cup scalloped potatoes with ALOT of ham.
A bannana and broccoli. :chomp:

I dont even know how many cals it was, but I know I sure got some cals/carbs/Protein! Was that stupid to do tho?

(and yes, I know potatoes may have been a poor choice) Im just asking about a mean in general

You answered your own question I think.

Like you said, your muscles are CRAVING nutrients. If you're going to eat bad / big, the best time to do it is after your workout.

why would potatoes be a bad choice again? potatos are a complex carb. your meal seems fine to me.. Also, theres no way to tell if the meal was "large" without specifying a quantity... not to say that large meals are bad. Look up intermittent fasting..

people who think you HAVE to have a shake PWO are idiots. This is the problem with the muscletech revolution.

Good, quality whole food is best at any time of the day. Protein shakes are processed as well and should be used as a matter of convenience. Whether you have a shake or not, within an hour you should be eating real food IMO.

I remember reading about that actually. Seems interesting...

i wouldn't consider scalloped potatos (i assume from a box) as a great complex carb choice. lol

But that doesn't mean they are bad. EAT to get big.

I just eat.

after a work out, depending on the day if i'm pre cooked or not i eat right away.

i have a shake as soon as i walk in the door but i start getting dinner ready also.
the reason i have the shake is so i have some thing in my guts while i'm cooking cause if i dont and i cook hungry i fuck it up and then get pissed off.
i will even have a pre work out food also. a great one fast and easy is a bagel with natty PB and real jam.

i do agree it is gay.
my cheat meal is pizza fraking love that shit.
it's enogh calories in one sitting for 3 days. xl triple pepperonie light sauce double mushroom and double cheese on top to melt it all together.
so good. heart attack waiting to happen.

I cut out a lot of protein powder recently and barely use it anymore. After workout I have some fast acting carb (sometimes that may be a fat free candy) and then a food protein source. Often a chicken pita with veggies or something like that. Seems to have worked ok for me.
