Is eating ------- a waste of time?

Latley I've been really focused, eating to grow not for taste, 2-3 shakes a day and exploding in the gym. Got a good connection on meats that fall off a truck so im getting them DIIRTT cheap fuckin doggin them down before they go bad in my fridge lol. Always hear protein and calories to grow, protein and calories, without them you wont grow. Im not to knowledgeable in the nutrition field as i'd like to be so here we go

Heres my question. Are side foods like mashed potatoes, rice, mac and cheese and other foods like this a waste of space in my stomach? I was eating some good ass mashed potatoes the other day with some mac and cheese and looked at the nutritional facts on the back and a BIIGGGG huge container of both only has like 120 calories each and 0 grams of protein for the potatoes, I think 2-4 for the mac and cheese.... I know rice has alotta carbs, but even rice I mean, you eat a big ass bowl of rice and you don't wanna eat anymore. I can eat 2 pounds of steak like it's nothing and have my total protein for the day and eat 3-4 more meals after that. Are foods like this needed to bulk or should I stick with the high calorie high protein foods?

mac and cheese is trash. if you potatoes come in a box, they are trash. Sweet potatoes and yams are the way to go for carbs. Your muscles need carbs to grow. However, you gain strength from protein. A trainer at the crossfit gym I used to attend went on a diet for about a month and a half eating only red meat and whole milk. So some carbs, mostly protein. His strength went through the roof, lost body fat, overall size stayed about the same.

Strength is great, but I really could care less about my strength compared to the size of my body. I want to get freakish big. im 5"8, I wanna be 220+ pounds lean.. So I should be MORE worried about eating carbs then anything else orr?? I understand the body needs carbs, this is common sense, but from what I thought were reliable sources of information the keys for growing mass lie in calories and protein.

u need everything to grow, protien yeah, but you need carbs and healthy fats aswell or ur results are gunna be minimal to what they could be

well, lets shed some light on this

age

not sure my bodyfat, but I recently posted a thread in the pic section titled "12 week cycle after post cycle therapy (pct) results" where you could estimate if you want.. I would actually like that if you could as im trying to figure this out myself. Those pics are days old so pretty recent.

And bro to be honest with you, I've never counted carbs before, but I TOTALY exeed 300g protein and 122g in fat per day. My weight gainer alone is 186 grams of protein, 2,500 calories and then at LEAST 2 pounds of meat a day 90% of the time it's steak which i've read is around 120 grams PER pound. I have maintained my weight, but haven't grown a pound since I've been off pct.

how long ago was pct??

weight gainer is crap.. u dont absorb much of that btw

2500 caloreis from weight gainer.. real food at that level will do u sooo much more

june 17th was my last day of post cycle therapy (pct). So I gave you the stats on my weight gainer, how much of that protein/calories do you think im actually getting? Im currently taking up your mass if you wanna look it up or something. I take within 20 minutes of waking up, mid day and within 20 minutes after working out which is also within an hour to an hour and a half before I go to bed. Honestly I could tell you that I can get a good 4,000 calories and the 300 protein you suggest, but without the gainer I may be lost lol. I just don't think I could do it, maybe you can help me incorporate the gainers in my diet?

suck it up and eat, sorry it's harsh but true bro

do you understand how much food is needed with-OUT weight gainers to consume the amount of protein, carbs, fat and calories that 3j is suggesting? I took a few minutes looking up food specs and I just don't think it's possible..for me anyway. With weight gainers easily, without.... This is what I dont understand. I see tons and TONS of big motherfuckers at my gym. Come in monday drinking a pepsi, come in wednesday with a half eaten mcdonald french fry carton, and sunday night coming in talking about how smashed they were fri and sat. I see how they workout and my workouts are WAY more fierce, intense and weight for weight im going way heavier.. I know for a FACT when outside of the gym there not strict with there diet at all, so what am I NOT doing that they are?? Is it all genetics??? To be completely honest with you im not even so sure all of them juice though I do know a few that do... Don't think your guys info isn't helping me, after this post I just went out and bought 5 bags of mini wheats at 50g per serving to get those carbs up to 300 a day im just suggesting there be an easier way.

Its completley do able, its alot of food yeah but you just have to train yourself to eat alot. i eat 3500-4000 cals aday of real food. and all of it is clean. LOTS of tuna, chickn and turkey breast, salmon, eggwhites, whole grain bread, raw oats, sweet potatos, avocados, E.V. olive oil and almonds. thats my basic day to day menu and it rarley changes. im a small guy too and ijust started to eat like this again with no problems. sometimes you just gotta force it down. doesnt come cheap eating this much tho

next time u go into pct up your lean beef intake.. saturated fats play a precursor to natty test

Typical percentages for gaining are 15% Pro, 55% CHO, and 30% fat.
Use the Cunningham (if BF is known) or Harris-Benedict (if BF is not known) equation, then an EER Equation (you can search all 3 of these in the google search box... it's not hard.)

This is your STARTING point. Figure your percentages and eat that for a week. Add 500 kcal/day the next week with balanced percentages. Repeat this until you reach your goal at weight gain of about 1 lb a week. Yea, some of that weight will be fat, but what else would you expect with a natural weight gain diet? the muscle comes with it.

If you don't like that, try someone else's advice, or get on the anabolic forum.

the carb & fat intake depend on your body type. are you a gard gainer >?

youve been giving out some good advice here.. but i disagree with the above statement..

a 40/40/20 is best for growing.. 15% protein?? how so?? where do u get this philosophy from??
