Is Insulin a "must" to be competitive?

I have been wondering the past few days is insulin absolutely necessary to be a competitive bodybuilder. It seems like it is a must for all of the pros and I have read many good things about it but have also read how it has no place in bodybuilding. Any advice is much appreciated

Low dose AAS combined with low dose insulin is FAR SUPERIOR to a high dose of either. I've seen the results and it's astounding. However, I must say that I personally will never fuck with insulin as one screw up can put you in a coma or even kill you. I had a diabetic friend growing up and he wound up in the hospital a few times from taking too much insulin, and he wasn't even using bodybuilding doses. Unless you are going for MR. O I wouldn't recommend it. Get metformin instead, this drug improves insulin sensitivity. It is far safer and has been shown to promote fat loss.

I have ran slin and you have to really really educate your self on it. I keep track of my blood sugar and everything. I have gone hypotensive before and it is so fucking scary. You get the work hunger pain and huger you go and eat the most insane amount of food and calories. Be careful if you do. And no, you do not need slin to compete. I know many people who compete and never have touched it.

Although I don't compete, I run slin while on cycle but then again as a nurse I'm very educated with that medication. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as mentioned above it can kill you if you don't know what you're doing.

I hear this scare tactic all the time. So how many people die each year of insulin overdose?

Honestly if you are wanting to be a top pro. I would say in todays day and age it is probably a must. If you have god given amazing genetics like Ronnie coleman or jay cutler or phill heath maybe it is not a must to be in the top ranks of pros. But from who I have talked to I would say its a must. I would say maybe you could go pro with out it. But to be in the top ranks of the pros they are all using all the tricks in the book and insulin is one of the most powerful drugs out there. Insulin and hgh are responsible for a lot of the muscle mass you see on pros. Ive been looking into it lately and studying. And asked the question to other well educated people in bodybuilding.

I googled around Metformin (somthing i haven't heard of till now) and i found that i can help with weight loss but only if you keep away from foods with a high GI.

On a side note here's what they say: Glucophage should not be used for weight loss in athletes because it impairs competitive performance by lowering blood sugar. On rare occasions, during maximal effort, this can cause a person to pass out.

Not to mention that it it indeed lowers blood sugar you'll feel like crap and lethargic.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Metformin at doses that would be effective, would also be dangerous. Vanadyl Sulfate and L-Carnitine are the safe and effective choice.

lol scare tactic... It's no scare tactic, it is the truth. Never mind the amount of deaths that occur each year the point is that it happens because insulin is deadly. When I was a first responder for an ambulance company, I responded to enough insulin related deaths over the years. Insulin shouldn't be taken lightly in anyway whatsoever. The kids that don't know what they are doing shouldn't be fucking with it either.

1. It's hard to diagnose insulin OD as a cause of death. It doesn't have the same obvious signs as a gunshot wound or a heart attack, so really no one knows how many people die from insulin each year.

2. It's not a scare tactic, it's a warning. People need to remember that this is their LIVES they are playing with. One screw up and you can DIE. It's pretty fucking important people know this as no amount of muscle is worth your LIFE.

I was telling him that I would never run insulin, not that he shouldn't. People can do whatever the fuck they want to their own bodies, but it's important they realize the consequences. I was giving another option which is safer, because I know first hand what happens when you take too much. He can decide to do whatever he wants to with the information I give him, it's his choice and his body.

3. Don't EVER tell people that insulin OD is just some "scare tactic". Understating the consequences of insulin use can lead to some serious problems. I have seen FIRST HAND what can happen.

Not true at all. This is not something you take at random times though, it's used before starchy meals. You take it before cheat meals, carbo loads, or small doses before meals on a regular basis. Yes, it can and DOES lower blood sugar, but it does this by increasing insulin sensitivity in muscles (does not effect insulin sensitivity in adipose). People have used it effectively, and unlike insulin it promotes fat loss. Insulin, on the other hand, tends to cause fat gain.

EDIT: It can also be used to go into keto, but I don't know how this protocol works nor if it is safe.

I know exactly what it is. I could write a book on Metformin even before it arrived in the US. I use it daily. We'll just have to disagree on this one, Clamp :)
