The Conquistador

Ology's Golden Boy
doesnt seem like much but I had been off from lifting for 7 months and was just starting back at deads this past month or 2. Im off of everything and had lost 30lbs of muscle but gained it back (along with fat) and now i'm steadily climbing up with deads and loving it. hoping to break well into 400 by mid june

deads today were
set1-warmup- 145x12
set2-225x8
set3- 345x5
set4-365x5
set5-365x5

Its really helping now that I am getting as low as i can to the floor for liftup, looking ahead, and keeping back straight. also concentrating on throwing my hips forward as opposed to arching my back like i found out I was. Kettlebell swings are helping a lot with that. As the lifts go up, I am able to weed out problems and it is working well

also did 5 sets of leg press with around 800lbs in plates with a ball between legs to help correct a twist that I was getting when I would squat

You will soon platue with the deads, you will need to add other types of assisting exercises in the mix, when i switched to squats and SLDL on the legs day instead of leg presses my conventional deads got up fast.

you should really add ghr's and pull-throughs if you want a bigger deadlift.

And as said before, you should only be doing 1-2 working sets with everything else being a warm-up essentially.

Very nice Cortez! ...escpecially in your situation. The numbers should climb fast for you. Keep at it. Kettle swings are great, I use them for MMA strength/conditioning.

my bud that I lift with is actually a MMA fighter and was th one that got me into them

LOLz.. I had a feeling it was something like that. Most of the guys at my gym you see doing those are fighters and wrestlers. Its caught on a bit with some others looking for good conditioning/strength boosters though.

Ham/Glute Raises would be a welcomed addition to your routine if you're looking to make your numbers climb Cort. They do require a special bench though....and they are rarely found in most gyms....most hardcore powerlifting gyms have them.
