Just Got Bloodwork Results - Some help interpreting this please!

I'm having issues importing the results and keeping my name off the page, so I'll just list a handful of values. If anyone wants to give me a little help about importing, etc, that would be much appreciated. Using an iPad and it's just a bit frustrating right now.

Total Cholesterol, 197 (100-199)
HDL, 49 (>39)
LDL, 138 (borderline high) (0-99)
Carbon dioxide, total, 29 (high) (19-28)
Total test, Serum, 527 (348-1197)
Free Test, 7.69 (low) (5-21)
%Free test, 1.69 (low) (1.5-4.2)
Estradiol, Sensitive, 8 (3-70)
IGF-1, 115 (88-246)
TSH, 1.310 (0.450-4.5)

I'm 35, and this bloodwork was taken almost two weeks ago. No cycle history whatsoever....just wanted to see where I was.

I'm confused about the carbon dioxide...what could that be from? I occasionally chew tobacco...I know. Nasty habit that I'm slowly getting away from...is that where the carbon dioxide is coming from?? I don't smoke cigs. Also, I do eat a shit ton off eggs, but didn't think that contributed to LDL as much (i know LDL is bad cholesterol, HDL the better).

The low test and estradiol don't surprise me....I've had nearly every symptom of low T, and am currently talking with IMT. I know I've given just a few numbers here....let me know what else I should include for any legitimate advice, suggestions, etc.

Thanks brothers!!

Ps-Megatron, I'm not seeing anything listed for LH, FSH. is it possible that these weren't tested? I got the work done through privatemd labs. Full hormonal panel, male (the expensive one)

The carbon dioxide could be something in your home. You should check that before it harms you or a family member.

Thanks Norsegod. Would you suggest getting one of those monitors/indicators? I know there are some out there for carbon monoxide....

Absolutely. Some energy/gas companies will come out to your house to test it as well. Most of the time for free or for very cheap. It's worth the time and money imo. Good luck.

Try taking a Sharpie to your name before posting results.
Your Test is not that low. Are you planning to cycle or what are your trying to accomplish?

You're thinking carbon monoxide (CO), not carbon dioxide (CO2). The former being the product of incomplete combustion and the latter being related to kidney function in the human body. (Yes, CO2 is also a byproduct of respiration - but the test is relevant for kidney process)

OP: I wouldn't sweat over any of the values you've provided. I would suggest hopping on some fish oil though as your lipids are a little on the iffy side. As far as low T symptoms go, I don't see anything on this panel that would suggest hypogonadism. Your E2 is a hair on the low side, but like testosterone - it does fluctuate throughout the day. Perhaps you have sleep apnea (sleep studies are typically covered by insurance) or something else going on.

My .02c :)

Copy that. And, you're dead on. While I allow enough time for 8 hours of sleep, it just doesn't happen. I'll lay down, then it's often times an hour before I fall asleep, and I typically wake up (then fall back asleep) after 5 hrs. It's been a while since it's been quality sleep to be honest. I've taken zquil to help, but it's slowly losing it's effectiveness.

Smittiot-yeah, wanted to get baseline numbers for my first cycle.

Megatron-my apologies, missed that question earlier. Blood was taken at 9:45am, after fasting for 12 hours.

What would be considered low just out of curiosity? My free test is 7.69 ( 5-21), and I thought that seemed pretty low?

Two thoughts: get a sleep study done. Sleep issues can severely impact your TT levels. The other is try using melatonin to help you fall asleep. Take 1-2mg sublingually about three hours before your want to be asleep. It will help shift your sleep patterns. If you can't take it that far in advance, or wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, try 5mg sublingually.

Hypogonadal TT would be below 300 or below 350 with low Free T.

Don't get too hung up on Free T. Lots of variables cause that to fluctuate.

Gotcha.

I double checked and the bloodwork I had done didn't include the FSH & LH. Male hormonal. I wanted to get the sensitive assay for e2. Would you recommend getting the female hormonal panel mid cycle? (Once I start)

Absolutely. Pre/mid/post blood tests make for a much better experience in my opinion. :)

Test isn't that low, like others said around 300 would be considered hypogonadal. Cholesterol could be either related to diet or genetics.

I recomend cutting down on the eggs just use egg whites or use half the amount of yolk u would usually use and hop on some garlic extract and red yeast rice one month of all that and cholesterol should be close to normal.unless other factors are their

The CARBON DIOXIDE is something that shows up on a simple 'CHEMISTRY" or "basic" blood test. It is basically a measurement of the BICARBONATE level in your blood. Almost all of the CO2 in our body is in the form of HCO3 (aka) Bicarbonate.

Your level is fine and nothing to worry about. If it gets low then your blood/serum pH is low or you have an increase of hydrogen or acid. For example; when people are in the state of DKA/Diabetic Keto Acidosis they usually have CO2 levels from single digits to low teens. Your blood, lungs and kidney all regulate this and you are totally fine.

Hope that helped a little.
