Ok so my trt doctor told me I have high cholesterol and put me on a keto diet. So I have two questions, I understand the diet but not really sure what to make of it!

1. will this diet actually lower my cholesterol as I lose body fat?

2. Just wanting a rough estimate of how long it would take to get down from 15 to 12% body fat. Yes I know everybody is different and the results will vary!

I would think you would need to lower your fat intake (saturated and trans) to reduce your cholesterol. High fat, high protein, low carb diets don't reliably work for everyone in that fashion.

Fat loss wise, I can shed about 3% in 6-8 weeks.

ok cool got one of the questions knocked down! lol obviously I don't get how the diet works! I just understand what foods to eat, and I only getting my fats from stuff like turkey burgers and salmon patties. I do not get why over weight people are stuffing themselves with bacon and steak thinking its actually going to lower cholesterol!

No shit! I don't get that either. You get out what you put into it. If you control your fats, and keep the fats of good quality, it may help.

The diet works by shifting the type of fuel you body uses for energy. Processing triglycerides produces ketones that are the body's new fuel of choice. It works well...though I don't like it.

Dietary fat intake and dietary cholesterol intake have very little to do with blood cholesterol levels. Increase activity and decrease daily stressors. Decrease caloric intake no matter what and you should generally see a drastic improvement in lab work.

ok thanks, the weird part is I found out I had high cholesterol when I doing cardio and weights 6 days a week eating super healthy. lean meats vegetables no fast or fried food, I don't drink or smoke either so I have no idea how it happened.
