Keto vs Low carb

when it comes to keto and low carb diet, they seem to be very similar. From my understanding, keto just has around 30 or less grams of carbs a day and low carb is around 50grams...both of which come from fiber sources.
I am wonder which is to be more effect towards weight loss ...and why?

i disagree.. keto and low carb are not the same

male keto under 30-50g of carbs
male low carb no less then 150g carbs

female keto under 20g
female low carb no less then 100g

the reason.. if you lower ur carbs to a certain point, your liver starts to produce glycogen.. counterintuitiive unless your going keto...

ok, I see. I guess I had a misunderstanding of a low carb diet. I figured it had less carbs.
Now a question I have is which diet is more effective towards fat loss while maintain muscle mass? I do understand that for the most part it does come down to how an individual can tolerate and stick to a particular diet...but is one actually more beneficial than the other?

Also, what are your views on an anabolic diet...from what I've been reading about it, it seems very similar to a keto, except your carb up days are on weekends(or just to consecutive days) and a depletion workout isnt' required just before a carb up. Is that correct? Anyone familiar with this style of dieting?

KETO WOULD WORK BETTER FOR THOSE GOALS

im a big fan of the anabolic diet.. well, that is, if we're talking about the same anabolic diet... carb cycling will always be the best way to diet...

well from what I understand with the anabolic diet, it's basically protein, high fat and low carb-40/60/25g or less...this for 5 days then for 2 days(wkend) carb up. 60% carbs,25% fat and 15% pro.

I am very interested in this diet mainly because it would work well into my schedule. I live alone and eating basically the same thing during the wk works well for me because I don't have to cook a lot of different things.

In your opinion, would I still keep muscle mass while on this type of diet? I really want to at least maintain if not still build while leaning out.

I think you would, can always just try it out and see how it goes. My gf just started lifting with me and shes jumped on a lower carb and high protein diet - I'm not strict with her as she eats pretty well (very healthy) but I just make sure her protein is high and she still has energy.

I follow a similar route when cutting :) Anabolic diet does look good though, as would carb cycling too. Lots of things work for lots of different people so its hard to plan out 'the magic plan' without trial and error.

As long as I refeed every 7 days I dont loose very much muscle on keto. I think people mistake muscle loss for water loss and the flat look that you get while on keto.

you absolutely will..

From what I understand of the anabolic diet is that the fat sources should have as little carbs as possible. I know that avocado's and nuts still have carbs in them, so would they be ok for this type of diet??

When I view sample anabolic diet plans it seems that most fats are cheese, bacon, mayo...etc. all stuff that doesn't really seem "heart friendly" :(

I would only use keto as a last resort. There are many vitamins and nutrients in carbs. And you have many more food options. Lose as much as you can with carb cycling and then go to keto. But I would always choose carb cycling first....or even low carb. Keto is pretty much no carb....low carb is just that....low carb.

Yes......high fats and high proteins will allow you to lose fat but many people forget that being healthy is just as important. Having a low body fat does not mean you are healthy. A bit of saturated fat is good but too much is shit for you and I"m not a fan.

You can be skinny and ripped with arteries clogged to hell.

I agree, carb cycling is probably best for me. I was just initially curious about the difference between keto and low carb and which one seems to "work" the best for losing weight.

When I was reading about them I came across some article on The anabolic diet. I was really intrigued by it, but I just can't justify eating bacon, fatty cheese and mayo and all the while thinking I'm going to lose weight and be healthy.
If seems like it would be an ok diet if weekday EFA's were only healthy options
