Kimbo Slice? Happy or pissed?

I moderately train with Sean Gannon in Boston who technically beat Kimbo. Im not bias in either direction but what does everyone think about him in the UFC?

I like it. If he would've gotten on without the show I would've thought Dana lost his mind. However, Dana is making him fight his way in with the other unproven HW's on the show. It will be huge for ratings. I think it's dumb that people hate the guy so much. He beat up a lot of big unskilled fighters in his neighborhood and then people started throwing money at him. Do you blame him for headlining cards. I think I'm pretty good but if Dana (or whoever) called me up and said "Dirk, I need you to fill in and fight Machida in 5 days." I'd be there for the kind of money that goes down in a main event, even knowing that 500 guys have done more than me to deserve a shot. I was actually pretty excited for Kimbo when he started training with Bas (one of my heros) bu8t supposedly he trained hard as shit at first and then started mailing it in (Like Kerr did to him at the end). Sad stuff, most people would kill for that opportunity.

On another note, I hung out with Seth Petrozelli for a couple hours right after he knocked him out. He's a cool guy. A lot bigger in person than I thought.

I cant wait to see what this guy has to bring with some serious Heavy Weights. Every guy on the street says he is a fighter and Kimbo taught alot of them that they were't. I wonder if someone will do the same to Kimbo. I watched the first season of this show religiously and lost interest in the others. This is big.

And I trained a few times with Kenny Florian, I feel bad for the guy but Im pretty sure we all know it wasn't an even fight against BJ Penn.

I wasn't crazy about Kimbo when he first broke onto the mma scene. I thought it was a circus/freak show ploy but (as Dirk pointed out) when he started training w/Bas and legitamately started working hard/paying due, I started gaining more respect for the guy. As time went on, he actually proved to be a fairly classy guy from what I could see. Didn't talk alot of shit about others and did very little trash talking. Plus, those who started meeting him remarked on what a cool/nice guy he was in person. Do I think he's UFC material, NO!.. BUT, over half the guys that made it on to TUF over the years weren't UFC material but they worked their way up and rose to the challenge. I'm excited to see him on TUF and it will show his true colors.
