Cellucor c4 is a stimulant based pre-workout. If you don't want him getting in tons of caffeine but you're cool with creatine just buy it in bulk.

Creatine is fantastic. Just keep up with hydration. There's no real downside to it honestly. Energy strength lbm and no organ damage

Head over to orbit nutrition and take a look at all the different types. If you have questions on products PM me.

The only thing is that C4 is a pre and not just straight creatine. It has stimulants in it and depending on his tolerance, this might not be a good fit. If he's wanting straight creatine, stick with creatine monohydrate as he can actually do a loading phase as hh said about and it's cheaper than trying to use a pre for just the creatine content. That being said, no real down side to creatine supplementation as long as doses are right and he stays properly hydrated.

I wouldn't be letting my son consume a preworkout before 18. If he wants creatine buy him straight creatine. If he wants a boosts give him a cup of coffee before he goes to the gym.

You will get every answer under the sun on Creatine as it always debated a lot. you run it straight or preload and cycle it. I really like it tbh and it makes a difference to me.
Creatine monohydrate is Creatine monohydrate whatever you get, but I always use the unflavoured pure Creatine from premium powders. You can add it into any shake or add a flavour and have it straight. good price and great product: https://www.mrsupps.com/ProductCategories/40/Creatine/

I love creatine and use Optimum Nutrition's product. I took 15g/per day for 5 days and then just 5g per day. On workout days I use 5g post workout. Looking back I wouldn't have used 15g/day at first but, rather, would just use 5g/day from the start. It all catches up anyway. It works and I don't know of any cons. I've heard that it should be used 2 months on and 2 months off but I've also heard there is no reason to come off of it at all. I'd appreciate any more info on that debate.

Creatine, Is Harmless, Make sure he is consuming enough water while taking. (A gallon or so (4liters) a day ,if your son is serious about building muscle he should be drinking adequate amounts of water anyway.
c4 Extreme however is not just creatine as I'm sure you know. It is a pre workout and with that comes stimulant (large doses of caffeine) . aslong as your son is not caffeine sensitive he should be fine.

If you or he has a problem with the stimulant simply run down to your nearest supplement store and pick up a tub of creatine monohydrate :D:D

Keep it simple. Creatine Monohydrate. Loading protocol. Keep hydrated. He's young so I'd stay away from stimulants. They can be very dangerous. Creatine is very safe on the other hand.

I wouldn't be worried about the creatine if anything in c4, as it is under dosed IMO anyway. I wouldn't have a 17 Y/O using it anyway, he should have enough energy to suffice for a full workout

Creatine can cause water retention in certain individuals but is as mentioned above a natural occurring compound found in the human body. Its pretty harmless from what I understand.

Someone natty should run bloodwork on creatine i believe its hard on the kidneys. Lets be honest do we believe its actually gonna build muscle or just wster weight? 17 year old is full of nattty test good age for growing natural he should keep it all food and definitely stay away from stims

Creatine's awesome bro! I've been on 5-7g of creatine daily for close to two years, kidneys have always come back great on bloods.

It assists with energy production (ATP) and strength by increasing intramuscular water.. you can gain a good 4-5lbs of water just inside the muscle. This is the good kind of water retention.. keeps your muscle cells fully hydrated and swollen, allows for more strength and contraction.
