love handles

I still have what I think are a small love handle. Even though no one else I know thinks I do.

What exercise would anyone suggest to "tighten up" this area, or reduce these little bastards:destroy::destroy:

If ya wanna go basic then anything after 20 mins will start burning fat! Ride the bike or whatever but get an hr in over several wks and its amazing!!!

not necessarily bro, you are always burning fat (unless doing extremely high intensity work). Think of it as a sliding scale, fat is the slowest form of energy and takes the body the longest to convert into glucose and then into ATP. It uses fat during rest mostly, but think of it as a sliding scale, you be burning 90% Fat and 10% glucose sitting here typing, but jogging you may be burning 70% glucose that comes from gylcogen stores and 30% fat.

high intensity work over time will alter this ratio over time and you will be able to metabolize fat at higher intensities. While that same jog a year ago metabolized on 30% fat, after higher intensity training, it could be 45% fat. (probably not that high though)

i dont know where the 20 minute thing has come from, i would that would be the marker for seeing any cardiovascular benefits, not fat weight loss benefits.

The 20 minutes comes form this: (even though that's off)

for the first 5-10 minutes of aerobic exercise your body uses glycogen from the liver as its primary source of energy

Up to 30 minutes and your body is using equal amounts of plasma glucose and fatty acids.

After 30 minutes your body utilizes primarily fatty acids as an energy source.

i would think it would take longer than 30 minutes to use up all of your blood glucose and glycogen stores, you would notice an extreme drop in intensity as gluconeogensis via adipose reserves is a slow, multi-step process, you would not be able to train at the same level.

30 mins? i doubt it, unless maybe you are sprinting, but you would not be able to sprint without CP and glucose, fat will not provide quick enough energy

Love handles are always one of the hardest areas to "tighten" up....especially on men.

The best thing is to tighten up the diet.

Exercise...cardio. I find adding HIIT cardio into my routine helps the stubborn areas. Add it in 2 or 3 times per week.
