low back exercises needed

Looking for some low back exercises. I've been lifting for years doing rows, pull downs, etc. I thought I was in good shape. Over the weekend, I installed a brick patio and was bent over working and my low back is still killing me. I'm going to start deadlifts. Are there any others that would isolate the low back muscles? I don't belong to a gym, but have plenty of weights and dumbells at my house. Thanks in advance.

well, you said it.
deadlifts will nail your lower back. so will stiff legged deads, but will trigger your hamstrings aswell as standard deads.

Hypers are good for Bros with bad backs. It is the only lower back excercise I can do post surgery (titanium plate at the L4-L5). Heavy deads and squats are a thing of the past for me.....(weeps uncontrollably).

I used to do hypers before, worked good, but deadlifts are waaay better man. Good mornings are also good.

Yeah good mornings are good. But make sure you use really good form when doing them. If not you will have more than a soar back. So read up and make sure you do them correctly.

I would have to recommend (once again) good mornings. If SLDLs "Nail" your lower back, then you're not doing them right.
