melotonin( i know that it is miss spelled) how many mg do ya'll take before bed, currently i take 2 3mg pills and does not seem to help that much. do i need to take more?

i take just one 3mg tab....too much will leave you groggy the next day. You may also build a tolerance to synthetic melatonin.

i take 9mg any less dosent seem to do anything for me...it works sometimes but i have ambien and of course that works...right now im dieting for a show at the end of sept and have yet to take anything but the next few weeks im thinking will be diffrent...

Its not really supposed to knock you out...it is supposed to create a better sleep pattern.

Exactly, this is not a knockout drug, you have to get to bed and it may ASSIST sleep but it wont knock your ass out.

3-6mg for me, almost always 3 because there are really no long term studies blah blah, and most of the time it works ok.

Once in a blue moon I stack it with a standard OTC sleeping pill, NOT TYLENOL PM (but the same sleep ingredient without the Tylenol).

the sublingual [ under the tongue ] versions are the fastest acting and most effective . look around at the local health food stores/vitamin shops and you will find it , source naturals brand is a good product if its available in your area .

I sleep so good when I take Melatonin. The last time I took it my girlfriend said I was talking in my sleep and I was being attacked or someone was chasing me in my sleep. Then I remembered that Melatonin will do that. I take 3 ,1 mg tablets and yes I feel grogy next day for a while. I don't really take it anymore unless I feel like getting chased.

I took a single tab of melatonin, I let the gel cap disolve in my mouth and then swallowed it all. It gave me the worst heat rash, I was red and itchy all over. It lasted about a half hour and it was terrible. It was very similar to taking niacin. Anyone else experience this? I'm too afraid to try the stuff again even though I sleep poorly sometimes.

I sleep okay with it but ambien does me a whole lot better.

Ambien is a knock out drug and that costs some bread, where Melatonin ran me $6 for 100 pills, and I'm sure thats not the bottom dollar either :)

I've been taking one 3mg tab, plus one 100mg cap of L-Theanine every night for over a year. No problem going to sleep, or going back to sleep if something wakes me up.
