I can legally say I have asthma, even though it's a bullshit excuse.
 
What about financial hardship reasons. You get paid less tha 100 euros a month right? Isn't there an argument for deferment based on that?

They "brand" their soldiers in Greece. The Greeks use a "classification" on their soldiers after doing a medical evaluation on them.
i.e.
I1, I2, I3, I4, I5

I5 they send you home right away as it shows you have extreme medical issues. I don't see how many people would like to openly declare themselves a drug addict...even still they allow those type people to still enlist after montitoring them.
The other reason you listed is not a valid excuse to be let go from military.

But, if you have a Greek National I.D. Card or Greek Passport you are considered a regular Greek Citizen. I have a National I.D. card which I got at the Police station 5 years ago. You can't do anything without one in Greece, so I needed to get one back then. Thing is they keep track of that stuff and they will audit you e.t.c.

Wow. Learn something new every day. I have to be honest, I wonder what mandatory military service would do for the US. I know a lot of these lazy entitlement crazed little bastards could use a nice kick to the pants. ;) I've seen it suggested before in legislature but it got shot down, some of the benefits of mandatory service are pretty hard to argue against.

Mind blowing that you can be drafted even if you're just living there temporarily. Those Greeks don't fuck around!

My dad did 3 years mandatory when he was 19...
Everyone says todays military compare to decades ago is a cake walk.
 
.. how can you not get perma wood at the though of being at the sharp end of the spear.. the 1% Can forces called me back at 40 and the only posting I would accept originally was my old ranger unit; Way out front and deep in it. ( they chose to make me a REMF, in the end it fell through, which was fine by that time). Do it! embrace the Suck and be an Airbourne meat popsicle. 33 is nothing, grow a set.

Not sure about Greece, but in America if you get super fat while in the service they discharge you lol.

Just turn into a fat fuck.

Agreed. Mandatory service for entitlement groups, illegal aliens (now referred to as "undocumented workers" in the news or "voters" to politicians), and sons/daughters of all US Politicians.

That's a good question since I was denied enlistment at 18 because I was 6'7" and 280lbs (8% bf) as I was outside their height/weight chart. Only branch that would take me back then was the Marines, and the recruiter talked me out of it as I would be a "big target" with a life expectancy of ~45 seconds in combat. Now in my late 30's I regret not joining, but that's a different thread altogether.

I always had trouble with weight in the marines, they said my max weight should be 197 lol I left boot camp at 215, 18 pounds over my max but I had some mean abs at 215 so they said I was good to go. Still I had to fight with them every weigh in. One of the reasons I got out
