Milk and competition diet

I am going to start dieting for my first show at the beginning of January and am wondering about milk. I've read a few posts about it not helping you get cut up, but is it something that I should cut from the entire diet process or just a few weeks out? I would be drinking skim and would obviously be going below maintenance with a decent micronutrient ratio. I'm just not sure about the effects of lactose, etc...

Thanks

That's what I had planned on using them for. I'm addicted to lattes, so it looks like I get to keep drinking 'em (for the first two months of the diet at least). Is there any specific reason why milk is considered a no no?

i'd like to hear a clean answer on this as well~ i'm dieting right now and wanting to kill myself without my skim milk. oh- what about "dairy beverages" like Carb Countdown by Hood? there's only 3 grams of sugar and very little lactose; how would that do in the diet?

I would suggest organic milk, contain more less fat and 75% more vit e and c than normal milk being soil. Also organic milk contains healthy omega fat.

What about ordering a soy latte? After a week you probably won't be able to tell the difference.

For mass building milk is awesome, I drink lots of it, a gallon of whole milk every day. I do eliminate milk when cutting because drinking all that milk makes me look very thick.

I would be fine with ordering the soy, but the problem is is that I don't know what, exactly, is wrong with milk in the first place. Does lactose have any side effects? If anyone knows anything about that, I'm all ears.

I've been drinking just plain coffee, and only having a half cup of skim milk in my morning shake. As far as calories goes, it's all taken into account, so I don't understand why people cut it unless it has some other side unwanted side effects (bloating, or if people have lactose intolerance or whatever)

i've heard that dairy affects the appearance of the "thickness" of your skin... i know singers dont drink it because it stimulates mucous production. so maybe it has to do with some mysterious way milk affects the dermis? i have no idea, as seen earlier i'd like to know too... damn i miss the dairy group!!

Yeah, I'm missing milk too, but I've gotten into that state of mind where I'm only eating/craving what I've written down. It's amazing how much you can look forward to a bowl of oatmeal with a bit of cinnamon. I was in a hurry the other day and tossed my protein shake on a bowl of oatmeal and then chased it with a teaspoon of flax seed oil. Once I did that, I'm basically craving anything that doesn't taste like shit.

Milk thickens the skin. I cut it out last year when preparing for a show and i noctice my skin looked tighter. It puts a thicker layer of skin over you muscles. You would probably be fine to drink up to about 6-4 weeks out, then cut it completly to tighten your skin up

Why would milk, say fat free milk, be bad for cutting? If you drink it post workout? It's got 8g protein and 13 sugars, simple sugars, and only 90calories per cup.

I'm just asking this purely for cutting purposes, not cutting for a competition.
