Hey guys,

So taking in 5k cals a day, pretty difficult and I am trying to use milk to get me 1k cals (2 litres). Problem is it is giving me the runs, I am talking major shits. I have bought some lactase 9000 alu per tab. Is this what I need? I want to continue taking the milk as its easy calories. Any suggestions?

Look for, and buy, the lactose free milk. There are generic store brand versions of it, but the brand name is Lactase Milk. That is what I use and I am lactose intolerant. Most likely you are as well, especially if you get bad gas with it.

Yup I guessed that was the case, will lactase tablets help?

They might, but probably not with the amount of milk you are drinking. They helped me for a few years, but now I cannot even eat a single slice of pizza without bloating, gassing, and pooping liquid.

Lol is that for real? I don't want to get the lactose free milk. I am bulking on a bit of a budget and getting the lactose free milk its quite expensive

My stomach gets so full of air that it rounds AND is solid - which means many hours of horrifying smell. Trust me, the extra dollar a half gallon (if you get the store branded version - exact same thing as Lactaid name brand) is WELL worth it. As Mega said, you are better off eating meat - specifically chicken - for your protein needs.

If protein needs are met (almond milk is what I use for shakes), carbs are FAR cheaper to obtain calories from. No need to cause yourself diarrhea, which is robbing you of nutrients anyway.

Alternatively, cheese may be easier on you. I can't drink moo milk, but I eat the shit out of cheddar cheese.

My .02c :)

Im eating a lot of meat guys. I am eating chicken in two of my meals and then tuna for another meal, eggs, protein shake for the other two. My last one I had a choice of cottage cheese or milk but milk is half the price of 1 tub of cottage cheese and I also get the extra calories. Im going to go and see how much that lactase milk is that you guys are talking about. If it isnt too much of a difference I will get it

just make sure to drink organic milk straight out of the cows utter and then tell me if you still have the runs.

The sharper the cheese, the less lactose is in it. Also, butter has no lactose (not a cheese, but is milk based).

humans are the only mammals that continue the consumption of dairy after infancy...

simply put.. the older you get the less you produce the lactose enzyme.. you simply have to remove dairy from your diet..

your body doesn't agree with it.. listen to your body

Yep, lactose intolerance forces the young to stop depending on the adult for its meals and makes it learn to get food itself.

In honesty it was reading your threads that actually made me aware of macros in the first place. I chose milk for the reason its cheap, lot of calories and I get the casein protein. What would you recommend as an alternative?

canned tuna is cheap right??

Canned tuna from Sam's club is pretty cheap per unit...and if you heat it using the microwave at work you make lots of friends. :)
