Mountain bike, or road bike?

Im going to start biking for cardio because it is less boring than staring at a dumb tv in a boring room.

I will be mostly on a smooth road trail, and wont really be off road at all. I dont think speed bikes are very comfortable for your crotch, and I want to be comfortable.

I dont want to race or anything dumb like that, I just want something to bike around with for cardio and be comfortable. At one point, I may choose to go off road. What should I get?

I also want a bike that will work my legs more.

i just bought a bie as well, i love it, works up a nice sweat, but i am not really sure how to go about buying a bike, i just picked a cheap one, u wanna ride together? lol

mountain bike for sure....you can go on road or off, just matters what kind of mood you're in. Plus you can shift the gears still to make it harder.

and it gives you more of a variety of locations to go rather than a roadbike whereas ur constricted to only smooth paved paths and all

I just bought an awsome mountain bike, and damn expensive! LOL! $700 bucks! lol.... thats ok though, its only pretty much one weeks worth of pay...

The thing is, a trainer I know has huge ass legs, and he rides a road speed bike.

Whatever, I like mountain bikes.

My bike. Probably at least as good as yours (except that the gear shift likes to jump on me occasionally). $69 @ Wal-Mart. That's about 3-4 hours pay when I'm mowing.

BTW, if anybody knows how to fix that gear jumping (i.e. it shifts without warning) I'd be much obliged. Otherwise, I'm probably going to upgrade to a Mongoose bike in a coupla months. (still roughly 1/7 the cost of yours, GM)

Just don't bike too much...that seat is not good for your manhood.

Yup. My dad used to ride several miles 5x/week, but quit when the doc told him that's why he had an enlarged prostate. Fatass hasn't exercised at all since.

1st of all get a mtn bike cause you have more options that way.
2nd spend a couple hundred and get a bike that is worth while, anything less will plague you with troubles, with bikes i find you really do get what you pay for.
3rd the bike i was looking at is prolly around 3900 usd, but that is for very technical rides out here in the west coast mountains.

That's WAY too damn much for a bike, IMO.
