Need advice for routine for Baseball?

Dlove

Product of Test
I just got some help on my traing sessions from one of the board members and I was feeling great after every w/o with what he suggested. It turns out the local College im going back to knows im a ball player. This school is hardcore with baseball we got a lot of guys who go straight to the minors-majors. Therefore practice is intense 6 days a week. Games fri, sat, sun.

Here's my ? The coach has a weight training routine made out for us but im not sure how much i like it. It's too long to post. I will say this i like the fact he emphasizes squats but three times a week what the hell! He's also a believer in deadlifts.

Once again im 6 3 250ish minimal BF. I play 1st base so speed isn't too much of a concern. I will say this I haven't played in a while and after traing hard and heavy i could barely throw the ball today and swinging the bat felt like i was taking a twig and breaking it on a tree.

I trust your guys judgements more than the coach when it comes to lifting so feed back would be appreciated. Im pretty pissed cause i wanted to bulk up to 270 but baseball is kinda my thing. How many days should i train?
What kinda rep range sets etc?

Thanx

Make sure do a lot of core work for stability, work your Serrattus anterior for power and make sure to work all your rotators to avoid injuty. Do exercises that imitate movements in baseball. I don't know what position you play but look at the movements that you use and try to find something you can do in the gym that imitates that movement. for example a baseball swing can be helped by doing a cable wood chops, tricep extensions or scoops. If you're a pitcher you should work on your internal and external humorous rotations. Work out 3-5 days it depens on your body and do reps of 8-12. Remember your not training to be a bodybuilder, but to play baseball so train accordingly.

I play 1st base. Hitting is one of my strong points. What are cable chops. Is that where you take a rope on a high pulley and bring it acrossalmost like holding a sword? Also what are scoops?

Great post!

Started yoga power ab's at home with the old lady and it made me feel great. Im gonna do pilates and yoga ab's once a week each and stick with my training regimen but drop back to 3 day's a week. Also incorporate some hyper extensions.
