Need Delt Help

I think I am finally ready to give up all forms of OH pressing. Had 2 right surgeries when I was 20 from playing baseball. Then a bit over a year ago, disc herniation in neck (c4?c5). Have found that it ends up with more time off than anything if I try and do OH.

Any good replacements or routines? I know I'm never going to replicate the strength, but would at least like to work on size.

Lol @chirp...I don't think anyone will tell you anything that you probably haven't figured out by now. Lots of lateral raises with dumbbells and cables from different angles and perhaps upright rows. Thats what I can think of off the top of my head.

over head presses are very unnatrual, i stay with a very light weight and at the slightest inkling of pain stop, even if i had 2 sets left. my buddy is so impressed with himself that he's ohp 100 in each hand now, i'm just waiting for something to happen. i may actually quit doing them all together. my front delt is getting hit on bench, i'm doing rotator cuff exercises with the cables, lateral raises with a moderate weight, high volume. my shoulders respond well to this. my rear delt is getting his indirectly with back exercises as well. IMO this is all you need. if it hurts don't do it

i like the results i get from heavy overheard dumbell presses however i too think they r not that great for your joints... recently started hitting the iron again after a prolonged absence and did some presses with 15- 20 lb dumbells . only did 5 sets of 12 and i swear to god the next morning my shoulders were really sore & stiff. not the good muscle soreness, in fact my deltoids were not sore at all, just the joints.... i would say what every one else is saying, lots of lateral raises and do lots of light rotator cuff exercises before your delt work out

Kind of what I figured. Not much else one can do. Yeah, I do my cuff excercises before hand and then one other day a week. Been doing them for years.....just a part of the rountine now I guess

Swimming works shoulders good, not high impact, obviously wont put on any size but can increase strength and endurance and may help your shoulder from hurting. I did a bunch of swimming after I had my shoulder surgery a few years back and it helped get my strength back. I think swimming with a bunch of lateral raises, as said already, will probably be your best, and safest for your joints, bet.
