Need some advice on abs..

Living the dream
I know that abs are not made in the gym they are made in the kitchen, my diet is on point. I think the only fats I eat purposely are cashews. Other than that, I'm high protein, low-mid carbs. I've have heard that everybody has abs, you just cant see them cause they are covered by fat. If you didn't have abs you'd be limp as a noodle. I'm am not fat at all. I'm pretty slim. 28yrs old. 5'5. 158lbs. since I been working out hardcore for the past 4 months I have noticed my weight staying pretty much the same. My starting weight was 165 but I look way more muscular now than before. I was doing sit-ups and crunches everyday for the first couple months, but lately I've been training my abs like any other muscle. Ntm 20min of cardio with every strength training workout. My stomach is definitely looking much flatter. And I am just starting to see a little definition. My question is at this point what is more important? should I just keep doing what I'm doing? Am I training enough? Should I go even more hardcore on my diet and just wait for them to appear? Anyone who know's what I'm saying I can give you a pic for further assessment? I am very happy with what my body is becoming it just seems like abs are the most desired and the hardest to achieve. btw I signed up for shaunT's insanity workout at my gym for today, figured I'd give that a try.

I have a long thread here in the diet forum about getting my abs showing. 3J set me straight and my abs are clearly visible for the first time in my life.

The main deal is diet and cardio, i know you say your diet is on point (and it may be) but unless your measuring meals and writing down every single thing you eat. You might be surprised. I only had to do it for a week or so then i was able to get my stuff done properly. I still occassionally measure meals because coming off a bulk your meals tend to grow a little. if your eating just 10% more than you are supposed to be eating it could mean the difference between losing and maintaining.

Cardio is critical for most if you want visible abs.

Lastly, working your abs.....two schools of thought, work em hard once a week or work them regularly. Ive tried both and when i saw the biggest difference i was working them every day, not nearly as heavy or as hard but i did ab work every day.

my ab routine when im trying to get real lean is:

4x15 rollouts
4x15 capt chair knee raises
4x15 reverse crunches on a decline bech
4x15 russian twists with 35lb plate on decline bench

If im working them once a week heavy i usually do
4x15 capt chair knee raises with 15lb dumbbell between my feet
4x15 weighted crunches on decline bench
4x25 reverse crunches on decline bench
4x50 weighted cable crunches

and some people are just genetically gifted, F them :-)

Good post Welter.

For women, or at least for me abs are the hardest !!!! I work them once, sometimes twice a week, but for the past year I've changed my diet and that with Cardio is what has helped me loose the fat around that area & show some definition.

I hate how I'm busting my butt working my abs & Mr P has a 6 pack and has always naturally had definition.... Lucky bastard !!!

haha thats why i said F them :) we have to bust our ass and they just have em, its just not fair lol

it's mostly due to the diet, but let me add to this that I discovered that You can work your abs even standing, the trick is stand in place and exhale, then in a neutral position bent forward untill you feel a crunch, repeat a good set of 100 reps.

Good deal, ill give it a shot

I know what ur sayin P. I'm not saying I walk around suckin in all the time but I think it's good posture to kinda hold your core in a neutral position. In other words just don't be a lazy fuck and let your gut hang out.

Welter, I'm pretty sure I gotta little bit of abs under there cause I can see some difference when I flex. I think I might just be at that critical stage where it's so hard to get rid of that last little bit of belly fat. Do you think clen would help? or should I try some OTC shit first? Maybe I should mention I just finished 2 cycles of 50mg dbol a day and now on my 6th week of Test cyp at 600/wk. Tren and Anavar (var) on the way too. No sides just horny as fuck and shootin loads like a high velocity full automatic paintball gun.

Hard to say without seeing your diet and knowing what your routine looks like. How much cardio do you do a week?
