Hello all. I am a new member to this board. I signed up quite a while ago but until now I've just been lurking and doing research. I have a question for you all.

I am currently doing 5/3/1 by Jim Wendler, and I am having good results. However, I am going to be traveling for about two months, from June - July. I want to minimize any muscle loss if possible. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any good body weight type exercises? I'm backpacking across South America, so I will be living out of hostels. If anyone could give me any help, or point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!:wavey:

if you got room in your pack, get one or two bands form jump stretch and you can use those for some resistance training. i took those with me when i went on some trips and it helped a lot with minimizing muscle loss. since you will not be able to do much/any high intinsity(weight) training, you could probably get away with doing either full body workouts every other day, or upper/lower split. if you don't take bands you can do a lot of different things: push ups, crunches, jump squats, wall sits, deadlift beds and small cars, lay under a chair with somebody sitting on it and bench/floor press that, find small objects and use those as dumbbells for lifts, if you find a playground you can do pull ups and a lot of other things. If you bring bands, you can add curls, press downs, delt raises shoulder presses, and anythin else you can imagine. you just gota use what you have and be creative with it.

welcome to ology . many hotels have some type of gym also many gyms and fitness centers offer day passes for out of town guest at a reasonable fee.

Thanks for your helpful replies! I will definitely look into those bands, and look online for some workout movements to do. I was planning on taking a jumprope and using that to cardio for 20-25 mins in the morning. For working out I figured situps, pushups, and maybe burpies would be good. I will look into jump squats and things like that. I will also try to shop around for day pass gyms. that would be excellent. Thanks for your replies and i'm excited to be a new member!
