That's awesome, but AST has R-ALA at 200 mg/capsule with 90 caps a bottle for like 22 dollars at DPS. Still though I am glad you have them also.

At that price ... I seriously dought that it's pure r-ALA.

That is also the same # of pills and milligram content of their regular ALA - just a conincidence ?

I have heard of this type of thing before ..... a company will say your getting X amount of the natural isomer - say 100 milligrams - and so you think your getting just the 100 milligrams.

They leave out that there is also 100 milligrams of the synthetic isomer.

Not argueing with you bro .... just my .02

Nope your wrong. Check this out. Also I have emailed them and they told me that it is R-ALA.

No that's not r-ALA bro.

I have said this a couple time here but I will repeat it.
R-ALA comes in several purities. From 80-99% pure.
The difference between the 97% and the 99% in price per kilo is 30%. The reason is that the 99% is pure R-ALA and the 97% still has S-ALA in it which then makes it racemic.
Several companies are sticking R-ALA labels on the 97% and not publishing their independent test results. Usually because they don't spend the money to test it. Just ask yourself if a company won't spend the money to get their product tested why would you think they would spend the money to buy 99%?
Rearchkits.com is selling INDEPENDENTLY TESTED 99% pure

So if the least bit of s-ALA is in there, it changes how the r-ALA works?

Yes the S- inhibits the r- and that's why it should be removed completely.

This is a quote from Dr Ames after completing his work at Children's Hospital in Oakland.

"Lipoic acid sold in a health food store is a synthetic mixture, a racemic mixture. And R[+]- is the natural form and S[-]- is an unnatural one ... And in our hands R[+]- works and S[-]- doesn't."
Dr. Bruce Ames, in Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence.

And this is the leading researcher in Europe on Lipoic Acid.

"The S[-]-enantiomer … part of the racemate, which is present as about a 50% impurity, needs to be eliminated."
Dr. Guido Zimmer and colleagues, in Methods in Enzymoogy.

It isn't the responsibility of the public to prove the a supplement contains what it's supposed to. It's the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Oddly enough Syntrax has refused to give the retailers who have asked an independent analysis of there R. So no one knows how pure it is. Which with R-ALA is VERY important. They also don't have Biotin in theirs so you will become deficient of an essential B Vitamin very quickly. Any lipioc needs be taken with Biotin.

That's odd. I bought their stuff and put me in ketosis rightaway... Seems to be working just fine for me. The biotin deplition I can live with...It's minimal for what I'v read. Only if you're taking very hight dosages of r-ala (1800mg/day) is when you may see some dry skin or joint pain etc.

You only need 200mg of R-ALA to be depleted of Biotin.
It put you into Ketosis right away did it? Well that's great. You're the first one I have seen post that.
It's odd that you know so much about it, biotin depletion sides and all, and you bumped up a thread from 2 months ago, just to plug R.
Syntrax has possibly the worst record in the supplement business as far as quality and meeting label claims. Not to mention having products they sell banned by the FDA. One of their products hospitalized 15 people. If you trust what they tell you even when they refuse to prove their label claims, AGAIN, good luck to you.

Thanks. I was just doing a search on r-ALA and found this one. Then I read it and saw how it seems every product out there except yours is bad quality.... I've had great results with syntrax and many claim great results from other of their products. Good luck to you with yours...I just though your prise was too high for the product you're selling that's all. I also do this "bump up and old post" but mostly I'm not looking at the date just the subject that interests me.

peace and done with this thread. :shoot2:

Oh and by the way, I just realized that what you ment by that statement is that I'm somehow under syntrax's payroll or some shit like that!? If that's the case then that's some lame way to suppress honest opinion of real people of your competition. Plain old simple found it cheaper same product and went for it. Yours may work great too but I really think it's overprized. Would it have had a more appealing price and I would've gone for it sine I believe you have independent lab tests and free biotin....

Syntrax's payroll? I don't know where you're coming from with that. I know everyone at Syntrax. There are no Cubans. :)

I understand Syntrax gave you a better deal but you're not going to get a better deal by going to the Mercedes dealer and telling him what a great deal Chevy is offering you.
It's cheaper for a reason.
