Newbie starting trt. Couple questions

To make a long story short, after realizing I have low testosterone I decided to see a doc and start trt! Here's the thing, I don't think this doc is the brightest when it comes to testosterone. He claims to have treated plenty. He also says that I read to much, and the ppl who ask about AI's are the younger crowd who read to much and want to gain muscle. I replied no, it's b/c I don't want elevated e2 levels and gyno that comes with it. He said lets see how you do after a month and if u do feel the urge before hand stop by gnc and grab a Estergen blocker. I chuckled. He said I would not need HCG either. So I'm doing 200 mg's of test C per week (125 every 3.5 days). Well after pondering the idea of an AI I decided to medicate myself with .25 mg's of arimidex every 3.5 days starting with my second pin.

So after a month I went back to the doc. Told him Ive been taking arimidex and that I feel great. He then said no reason for blood work then since I feel great :D I argued bloodwork and a script for arimidex but he was content the my insurance would not cover it!

So my questions are,
When would be a good idea to go get bloods? I know that e2 can crash over time. I've been on trt for about a month and a half and feel pretty damn good.

Does anybody think I would benefit from hcg? I have it on hand

I really appreciate it guys

You need to find a doctor that will monitor you're blood levels. Putting someone on testosterone and then not monitoring their levels is really irresponsible.

So you feel great but don't know hat your tt or e2 are? You need bloodwork

Alot of us have the same issue with are drs. They aren't quite up to date on proper trt treatment so you have to be your own advocate. A good time for blood work is about 6 weeks after a change. You should get your own blood work both peak and trough readings so you can dial in your protocol.

Have you read the trt overveiw?

Trtnooby-thanks for the reply. Yes I need bloodwork. Doing it myself since the doc Isn't to cooperative.

Ok so 6 weeks is a good amount of time for everything to soak in. I will schedule bloods in the next cpl days then.
I have browsed over that link in the past, rereading it now thanks.

What about HCG? Not sure if I would see any benefits from it but I've got it on hand. My testicals have atrophied slightly.

Also I have LIV52 on hand. Do you guys think it's needed when taking arimidex?

Thanks again

I think you sold be taking liver support even if you weren't taking adex. Here is a link on adex/anastrozole :
Anastrozole

As for HCG I'm thinking you should get your protocol dialed in with just tge test first then add it. Unless your atrophy is causing pain and discomfort.

Just my thoughts

Do you care about fertility? If you plan on having kids someday hCG is a must IMO. TRT is by no means a birth control method but it can drastically reduce your chances, especially so the longer your on it. hCG can help prevent that from occurring.

Your doctor should be stripped of his licence. Fucking ridiculous. Yes you need blood work, it's awesome that you feel great already, but you may have unhealthy levels. I've felt on top of the world before and bloods came back I had e2 in the hundreds lol. I'm just not sensitive to it I guess. Best to see whats going on, where your TT is at, e2, etc...

You'd be crazy lucky to not have to adjust anything. Some guys take 6months to a year to get properly dialed lol.

Best of luck to you :)

Thanks for the reply.
The wife is 6 months prego with our 4th so I will be getting my nuts whacked soon enough :(
Unfortunately I had a pretty good idea my doc wasn't going to be up to date on testosterone procedures from all the trt horror stories Ive read. I talked to a testosterone clinic for men and they were very pricey and my insurance did not play a roll. As long as I'm monitoring everything through blood work and manage my own trt protacol I'm pretty confident about the whole thing.

Before I started trt my E2 was at 21, low side. When I get bloods I highly doubt my e2 will still be at 21 lol (would be nice to hit spot on), so I'll up or cut back slightly on the arimidex. followed by more blood work in 6 weeks

I think that's a great idea. After the blast I'm currently on I'll be moving to self-managed TRT myself.

If you need help with anything or want anything double checked, feel free to post up here... the boys here are always around to help out ;)

Couple things though: If you ever lose that awesome feeling of well-being you should consider adding in hCG. Some people lost it after a while - it's due to the "downstream" hormones DHEA, pregnelone etc. that come from cholesterol conversion in the testes. hCG will help with that. If you feel great now though and don't want anymore kids I wouldn't worry about it.

And you'll want blood drawn about 6 weeks after you've been on the same protocol with no changes :)

Thanks again I really apreciate your asvise. Looking forward to a dbol blast myself after everything is dialed in. I've never run anything accept my trt protocol, but Ive got some dbol lying around waiting for the right time :)

Couple more Q's for you guys.

I'm getting bloods done manly to dial in my adex dosage. That being said how important is it that I order the sensitive over the reg? I know you subtract a few points if going with the reg. 3X the price difference is why I'm asking obviously.

I'm getting blood work done this week. Did my last 100 mg pin last night (mon the 13th), what day would you recommend I get my blood work done and why? I understand it's best to know peak and trough, but for now I'm getting blood work done once. Probably be next month for new bloods

Thanks again

You could probably get away with regular for now but I would go with the sensitive when you feel like you've got everything narrowed down just to confirm. Regular can be 10-20 pts overstated.

Best to get the trough reading first so draw the blood day before your next injection. Or the day of, but before the injection would be best. Again, I'd get both peak & trough when your pretty much dialed in.

Thanks again prince.

Sure would be easier if my doc wasn't a complete idiot. I'll be keeping my eyes open for a different doc in the future.
