Not on TRT, but I have a question about estradiol

Went to the NU Male clinic to find out what I can do to solve my ED. Well they took blood to check my testosterone and estradiol. They did and an ultrasound on my penis. Blood flow was ok. But anyways, the results were testosterone was 560 ng/dl, and estradiol was 92. The doctor told me that the estradiol was a little high, but not terribly bad. I am not an expert, but the estradiol number seems a little high to me. Could this be causing my ED. I swear, I have no sex drive, and I have stopped getting morning wood. I am 60 years old, other than being about 35 lbs over weight, I am relatively healthy. No high blood pressure. What do you guys think. BTW, he said my testosterone was not at an optimum level, but did say I had a level of a 40 yo. You guys tell me what you think. Thanks.

Have you had your prostate checked? Estro does seem a little high and your test is in the low normal range. Did they offer to put you on trt?

Yes they did, but it is just too expensive. Besides, I tried it a few years ago, and it did nothing for me.

do you have any more bloodwork you could post? If you are are close to a labcorp you should get the hormone panel for males. In that panel is a sensitive estradiol test, which is more useful in determining what a persons actual estradiol is. Privatemdlabs.com is where you can order the panel, they have a newsletter that is pretty good which also will have a 15% coupon code. I am curious what your bodyfat is, or if you are developing any gynoclamastia symptoms.

You're over twice the range for estradiol. Yes, estradiol is probably at least partially responsible for your issues.

A couple questions:

1. Do you consume large quantities of soy? (milk, beans, tofu, protein alternatives)

2. While the link to obesity has been both proven and disproven (science is annoying that way), it is still a medical fact that aromatase (the enzyme found in hormonally active adipose (belly fat) tissue that converts testosterone to estradiol) is higher in folks with higher body fat percentages. Has this weight gain been somewhat recent?

3. Are you on a low fat diet?

4. Are you on any prescription meds like Propecia, finasteride, Paxil, or other SSRI class drugs?

5. Have you ever had an MRI of your pituitary done along with bloodwork that looks at leutinizing hormone (LH)?

6. Have you had any trauma to your head or spine? Car accident, skiing accident, et cetera.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head right now, but the answers to those should be able to at least point us in the right direction. The only other biggie that I can think of would be having prolactin checked too, but that kind of follows number 5.

I look forward to your reply. ;)

My .02c :)

1. No, I do not. A little milk. I will have half and half in my coffee.

2. Yes, I have put about 15 lbs on over last few months.

3. No, I haven't been on a low far diet, but just recently started one.

4. I am on Wellbutrin and Prilosec.

5. No

6. None that I can think of. I remember my head bouncing off the ice when I was a kid, but I would hardly call that trauma.

Your converting way too much E2 if its really 92. (just making sure thats not total e).

This means your T will be lower since it is the raw material.

Gotta fix it or the weight gain, water retention, BP issues will happen/continue.
