Numbness threwout body

I have been training for about 5 years and I have never had this feeling before. I just started feeling this way for the past few months. Does this happen to anyone else? My arms get numb if I have then behind my head when I am sleeping, if I lift them over my head for a few seconds as well. It's mostly my arms that this happens to. It's bad circulation I think. What can I do to help this?

Have you put on weight? I have this happen during sleep if I bend my arm in a certain way but not from lifting my arms over my head. I'd check the BP too.

Folding an arm causing constriction is one thing (muscles in the way), but over your head sounds a bit odd.

This has actually started to happen to me recently. I notice that when I lay on my stomach, and I have an arm folded up under my head, my arm goes numb in minutes. Now of course depending on the way the arm is, it will go numb after a while but it happens very quickly.

I'm also noticing that if I'm on the toilet for more than 10 min or so my legs and feet go numb. Even if I'm sitting on the floor w/ my back against the couch, my legs go numb when they're straight out in front of me.

I think this may be due to poor circulation b/c as long as it's not ridiculously hot, my hands and feet get very cold and it's hard to warm them back up.

Heat, like hot showers, lowers BP. But if you guys want to dump this problem, then drop the muscle. ;)

People who have their arms over shoulder level often do get shoulder problems, like hairdressers. I dont do much shoulder work, and hardly any overhead pressing just because shoulders get so much work already.

true! I was thinking more of it being a wrist problem!

This happens to me quite often. Numbness in my arms, legs and even face! My blood pressure is fine and I have had bloodwork done. My blood work looked alright, except my liver enzymes were slightly high. (Common in athletes!)I have figured out with me, the lower my BF is the worse the numbness is. Just curious, are you pretty lean. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who experiences this. Jul

I'm not that lean. I have a bit of a belly. Nothing huge but a bit of baby fat. My arms mostly get numb when I am sleeping. I twist and turn a lot in bed and my arms are always in diff positions and almost every position, my arm would get numb. My friend has the same problem. He went to see a doctor and had a bunch of tests done. Now he has to sleep with both his arms straight out (pointing the opposite way of his body).

It's obviously bad circulation and I think it's because of my muscles. I have gained weight and I know it's not fat because all my body parts are a lot stronger and I uped the weight for all my excersizes so i'm guessing I put on some muscle. My muscles always feel pumped and I feel like that is the reason body parts get numb. This is what I picture in my head: muscles growing to big and strangling veins/blood vessels and not letting blood to flow threw. I don't know but I am going to see the Doc. I'll let you guys know the results.
