Oatmeal

This is just a quick one - I've noticed a lot of people have mentioned oatmeal as a breakfast food in various threads. I'm in Australia so I want to make sure we're talking about the same thing here - is this the same stuff that people make porridge out of?

How do most of you have it?

Sorry if this sounds kinda dumb, but I didn't want to die wondering [lol]

I have it for breakfast every day. I use the organic large oat flakes because the have a lower glycemic index that the quit oats. I boil it up. once its cooked its damn hot so what I do is add some frozen blueberries, strawberries and rasberreis. The frozen berries cool it down and kind of melt into the oatmeal. I also add a little stevia to sweeten it up. It is truly the breakfast of champions.

Id stick with the oatmeal. multi-cereals around here contain far too much added sugar are overly processed.

Oatmeal is great for a bodybuilders diet. I eat it every morning. I read a artcle with Jay Cutler where he said he eats oatmeal 4 or 5 times a day.

I love oatmeal, probably eat it at least three times a day, a little brown sugar and cinammon and you can't beat it.

I used to try to eat my oatmeal, but I rarely do anymore. My stomach doesn't like it; it just doesn't digest well.

Are quaker instant oats good too? They come in handy little flavor pakcs like brown sugar, apple and raisin...ect
:)

I'm pretty sure that the instant oats have a higher GI. They sure taste a lot better though, as well as being easier to prepare.

that means NO instant flavoured Quaker Oats.. stick to old fashioned kind, they cook in the microwave in under 5 minutes..many ways you can get creative to fancy it up as well.

I put a half cup of unsweetened oats in my morning shake at least 5 days per week.

On the other days when I eat a solid breakfast, I usually have oatmeal also, but the truth is that I won't eat it unless it is sweetened. I buy the quaker variety packs and add raisins also.

Oatmeal is great food. Good complex carbs and lots of fiber.

I've had a 1/2 cup bowl of oatmeal mixed with a scoop or 2 of whey probably a few hundred times over the last couple years. Great low glycemic energy source for your day.
