Oats or Rice?

i would have to say do to the easy digestiblity of it.

Digestability is one that is true. Digestion is big in your bb goals.

Common Food Alergies is another. How many people have you heard say, I feel bloated after eating oats. A lot of people will drop oats the last week because that allergy is causing them to hold water.

true i guess, but i love milk, and probably will not drop the use of it. but i see your point also.

I love milk also but was glad i gave up drinking it. A friend of mine who goes by the name "skip" and is great at nutrition mentioned he could tell the difference in his kids, from the ones who were taken off milk earlier then the others.

How are you going to help your BB goals because your using a carb source that is a 48 on the glycemic index and a rice that is maybe 52?

When you add the protein and fats into the equation it becomes a moot point.
i see your point here..i did not take that into concideration..

Well you might actually be okay to eat a little more oats then most. I'll look for your post.

i know of "skip", if he's the same guy from intensemuscle.com. i may have to try the milk thing with my kids and see if i can tell a differnce..but i dont see how milk can be so bad if we use the casien and whey out of it? and is it just milk or dairy all together?

Why no white rice?? Are white rices bad for some reason??? You make reference to needing to be Low GI. White rice can be low GI. Do you want to be more specific.

I see Basmati rice is around 58, whats wrong with that?

I see a Long Grain White Rice @ 52??
less processed, more fiber, more nutrient dense.

does it make a significant difference? probably not. but why not eat the better of two alternatives?

"skip" said in a post that leaving micellar casein out of his mix didnt cause any noticable difference, so he kept using it. '

also, with whey isolate, youre getting very little or no fat/carbs. Concentrate has more, which is why some people have gastrointestinal problems with it.

I think you should have been a little more specific to the reason. Since you did the same to me. Your statement was ALL white rice was bad.

Some people just cannot digest milk very well, I have noticed that most of my middle eastern, or jewish friends seem to be lactose intolerant, it is probably genetic. I myself am a huge milk drinker.

Your avatar is sort of creepy?

Yeah i wasnt lactose ever, but i guess it is something that just happened.

Yeah the avatar is a girl licking a gun.......

I found this in some searching as it's something I'm trying to figure out right now. I followed you over here from intensemuscle, Dirk. I've narrowed down what I think is a food allergy, to 3 things. Eggs, whey protein, and oatmeal. I say it's one of those 3 things, because for convenience sake, I always seem to eat some combination of those 3 things together.

With that said, I would first like to clarify the effects of a food allergy. Holding water and general lethargy 1/2 hour after eating would depict a food allergy.....correct? If so, of the above, what do you think would be the most likely culprit? Note: I can and will find this out in a 1 by 1 comparison. But I'm kind of just looking for some experienced advice to put me at ease.

I fear particularly that it is the whey, and I hate to lose a convenient source of protein due to allergies. But seeing this post made me think it might be the oats. And I always seem to feel worse after my postworkout meal, which includes oats and whey.

Thanks for the help!

If I were you I would structure my diet so that for 1 week you do not eat a paticular source. Rotate throguh with the combo to find out which one.

So for 1 week do not eat whey but keep the other two in.
Next week put the whey back in and then take out oatmeal.
Last week take out the eggs.

Once you find what was causing your problem then remove that source for several weeks (4 - 6) and then you can try to slowly reintroduce them back in.

For me whey NO MATTER what it is or from causes problems. Even Whey Isolate from Trueprotein causes distress.

I removed it and feel much better, I have just been drinking egg whites.

Dirk, why does the media say that milk is healthy for kids? You mentioned that your kids benefited from not drinking milk?

Thanks Dirk. Not what I wanted to hear, but I'll give it a shot. After reading your post, I thought back to all the times when I would travel and train on the road. During those times, I wouldn't use any whey. And I always seemed to feel better after a couple days without it. I also have been drinking a whey shake about 15-30 minutes prior to my workouts, for I don't know how long. And for that same time period, I have never felt "good" while working out.
