If you train a muscle once a week, isn't that enough time of rest and recovery?
So why do some guys say,for example: if you do 8-10 sets of biceps after 8-10 sets ofback work overtraining.,when your gonna give that muscle a whole week to recuperate?
for example my routine is :
MONDAY-chest& triceps 10-12 sets(8-10rps)abs 4(15-20)
WED- Legs( includes calves,hams)8-10st 8-10rps. Abs
FRIDAY- back & bi 8-10 sets, abs
Cardio: on training days for 20 min post ex
I'm I over or undertraining?

You're giving the smallest bodyparts the same load as you do for the largest, do you think that's enough?

Overtraining is when you train the same bodypart too frequently without the proper amount of time for recovery. I've done this plenty of time and it takes a long time to recover.

I'll give you an example. Doing bench for 20sets two times a week, that overtrained my front delts to. Took me 2months to recover that bodypart. That means I couldn't work it out for that long.

Abs, doing abs too frequently can do the same thing. The feeling of specific muscle overtraining is a weak and sore muscle that doesn't seem to recover the soreness, and will last at least two months.

I may be more prone to this than others. But I do watch my loads for the week.

Also, much easier to overtrain your muscles if you don't have the right nutrition, calories, protein.
