Pec Tear???

Hey guys! Has anybody ever heard of a small pec tear that you don't even notice till the day after chest training? I was doing heavy bench press Sunday night. Didn't feel any pain or have any problems, but when I woke up the next morning my right pec was killing me. There's a sore spot on the outside edge about two inches away from my shoulder. It's a painful hard knot that feels like a walnut inside the muscle. There's a little bruising on the pec right below where I feel the pain to. Its been four days now and isn't going away so I'm getting nervous.

Has anybody ever had this before? Is there anything a doctor can do or should I just rest and wait it out?

Thanks.

it's plausible. i would go to a doctor, no need to diagnose yourself and make things worse. however even if it is a small tear there's not much they can do besides tell you to lay off it for a while. you may be benched (pun intended) for a couple months. time to focus on legs!

Thanks for the feedback. I made an appointment with a good sports medicine doctor. The soonest he could fit me in is two weeks from now. I reached out to a buddy who is an experienced powerlifter and asked him about it. He said he had small baby tears like what I am describing happen to him before. All he did was take a few weeks off bench and it healed on its own. Encouraging to hear, but I'm going to have the Doc check it out just incase.

good idea, and i wouldn't jut stay away from bench press, i'd stay away from any upperbody until you can see the doc. a pre existing tear can get worse just from doing other heavy exercises like pullups or any shoulder work. the two weeks off will also serve as good rest period. you'll end up growing after coming back from this, most people don't take the necessary time off and deload weeks.
