My Dr. wants to put me on T supplements (the patch) because of my free T results? not sure why, I just have alot of brain fog & fatigue. Tired all the time. I have had many blood tests & everything checks out ok. So I am curious what you all think?

Back in December I had my tests done & my total T was 175 so my doctor put me on Testosterone trochies & left me unmonitored for 3 months & my total shot up to 1900 & I was miserable. I have been off any supplements for a month & this latest test was taken 2 weeks ago. I fired my other doctor because I felt that he put me on something without monitoring it properly, 1900 was rediculous. So my new doc wants to build up my Free T.

They never did an E2 lab, after researching this site I asked for one & she wouldn't do it & said it would change her protocol in stopping the T trochies for a month. That's why I switched trying to find someone that knew what they were doing. The new doc gave me a few different options like gels, patches, trochies or shots. Everything I have been reading on here suggest that shots are the better method to getting it into your system.

Wait, so your doctor has to stop your treatment to take a look at your estradiol? WTF?! Another diabetes specialist masquerading as someone who can treat hormones. Well, at least you're given options on your method of hormone delivery - a lot of guys are just told they're getting the gel-crap and that's it. Estradiol is VERY important as it's why you felt like crap with TT levels of 1900ng/dL as your probably aromatized a TON into estrogen, giving you all sorts of side effects. Sounds like it's time to either find a new doc, or you might just have to educate her on why (hint: prostatitis is aggravated by elevated E2) you need to keep tabs on this powerful hormone.

I do agree that self-injections are the best way to go as long as you can handle the prospect of inserting a needle into your butt/leg/shoulder twice a week. Some men simply cannot handle this, so they opt for the other methods. I thought the troche was a really poor method of delivering testosterone and am surprised that it's still offered... Are you in the US? (I just thought that compounded oral test was a no-no)

What was your cholesterol numbers? What is your BMI? How old?

I am a 46 year old male & have always had cholesterol issues. I just had it checked 2 weeks ago so I don't have the HDL/LDL breakdown in front of me but the total was 263 but the doctor said the bad cholesterol was bad & the good cholesterol was bad. I don't know what my BMI is but I am 6' 185 lbs. I have always been active up until 6 months ago when I became extremely fatigued, could barely put the fork up to my mouth to eat during Christmas dinner. So I went in & got checked & came back that my total T was 175, then my doctor put me on the 150mg trochies & retested a month later & said it wasn't coming up fast enough so he told me to double up on it, then next check was 1900 YIKES! & I still felt like crap. Somewhere during the time I started taking the trochies there was a 2 week stretch that I felt like my old self again & then poof! it was gone again. In my little knowledge about all this I am assuming I hit my sweet spot for the 2 weeks & then blew right past it. After being off of it for 1 month there was another 2 week stretch that I thought wow, I am back & then bam it was back to the same ole same ole. No energy, fatigued, anxiety, depressed feeling & frustrated. I have had 4 good weeks in 6 months that I felt alive & confident & now found a new doc who comes highly recommended & gave me the options of creams, shots or patches. My old endocronologist who ran the labs I listed up on top just said now your in range, so I am not sure what to think about that? How do my labs look to you? My new doc looked at them & said I would put you on T supplements just looking at your recent lab work. This stuff is overwhelming & confusing.
Please let me know what you think?

Everything considered, if I was you I'd get back on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) with injections. You still have symptoms, your thyroid looks OK....and there for a bit testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) was working for you....I think you just need to get back to those decent levels you probably had and have your E2 in control and you'll be lovin life....
