PO Box

Went and opened my third PO box today and I actually took time to read the disclaimer, is it standard procedure that the Post office get an a copy of your agreement? I had to sign and date two copies. One for the company and one for the PO? Just wondering if that is normal, and if that is the case, wouldnt it look suspicious that i have multiple PO open in my name?

She also would not let me put another persons name on the account, without that person coming in and showing two forms of ID. I also tried to put a company name on the box, but was told that I had to have proof that I owned/operated a small business.

Just wondering if this is all standard stuff.

Seems excessive for a PO box. A little more than 10 years ago, I was able to open up a bank account in a company name without showing any evidence of the company really existing.

i work at the USPS. they are doing that because people are "skeeming". so they are making it more secure, so "bad people" wont have such an easy time "skeeming" others. but in my opinion its all bullshit because its still going to happen anyways. but thats our government at work doing its best..

This wasnt a USPS box, but it did seem a little excessive. When I opened my first box years back all I did was fill out the form and that was that. This time they took copies of my liscence and other ID etc... She did keep saying to me that this is the law making us do all of this, it isnt our policy. It was also her first box she opened, she said so maybe she didnt want to screw it up.
