Pre workout sup or drink ?

I like C4 but its the only one I've tried. I worked so I stayed with it. Worked good also when I worked 3rd shift and had to make the hour drive home.

I tried Xpand by Dymatize just today. Pretty god I guess. I use to drink a 60g/650cal shake bout 45 mins before workout but been gaining some fat. Now I eat half a chix breast and will drink one of these pre workout sups to see how that works out for me.

Do you guys think the pre-workouts actually increase your gains? Or do you just like the feeling you get from them? I tried a few, but didn't see the point.

Good question ! I need this cleared up myself. I know for me that I had more focus and my intensity was up giving me a better workout so that's a huge plus. I was also told that these drinks gives us an insulin spike for up to 6 hrs which helps with our post workout meal delivering the protein faster or something like that. I hope someone who knows what I'm trying to say here can chime in and clear this up for us.

It seems that the active compound of the vast majority of pre-workouts is caffeine, which can be bought for a fraction of the price or just taken as coffee...

If it makes you work your ass harder in the gym then happy days.

I used to be a huge fan of Ephedrine + caffeine. I had these crazy intense, focused WOs with it (I'm a coffee addict in the first place).

But then ephedrin / ephedra became more and more of a pain to find so I had to drop it. I'm now living in a country where ephedrin is classified in the same category than rec drugs and a handful of pills will get you behind bars for a minimum of 2 years, needless to say I'm not even thinking about getting some.

In the end I find it a positive thing as I started to get "addicted" to be amped while working out, I just felt lethargic if didn't pop them, not very healthy IMO.

I just eat a good pre-workout meal. Caffeine gives me anxiety. Im very high-strung high-energy in first place. I also feel that it makes you dependent on it for motivation/energy. Just push through and develop your own energy through proper sleep and diet. Also dont overwork. Take good rests in between sets. Compete with a partner or yourself. It is the best motivation and is completely natural.

Two servings instant coffee. 25mg ephedrine crushed to a powder. Mix both with a 1/2 can of diet Pepsi and you're good to go. Supplements are bullchit.

They could indirectly by increasing your intensity and endurance in the gym but nothing directly related.

Agreed, except if were talking about Pre workout supplements containing creatine or A NO stimulator or things of that nature. Then we know for a fact they are increasing gains.
