Primary or secondary hypogonadism?

It depends on how long you've been hypogonadal. Normally, one would look for a high LH, with a low test - but I've been seeing guys with normal LH values that are primary, it's just that the pituitary has "given up".

Best way to find out is to see if you respond to a SERM or HCG. If your testosterone levels increase substantially, you're secondary. Otherwise, you get to join the primary kids club. :wiggle:

Total test was 201 two years ago. My fat has always been around the waist, I lack focus and have never been very aggressive, so I wouldn't be surprised if it has been low my whole life. Based on what I read I was expecting to see high LH in order call it testes failure (primary), but I guess it makes sense that LH wouldn't stay high forever. I like your suggestion halfwit. I'll ask the urologist if he thinks we can do the HCG test. He has already prescribed Androgel assuming it is primary but I want to make sure my condition is accurately diagnosed so that the best treatment can be applied.
