Pyramiding???

I never pyramid during training. I only go up and maybe on occasion do a drop-set at the end. I do this in the belief that max intensity is the best method to grow muscle and when pyramiding down you are not maximizing intensity (lifting heaviest possible weight). Can anyone give me a physiological reason as to why I should also pyramid down? Understand could help pre-comp for striations etc but is there a benefit in creating more muscular hypertrophy?

Pyramid style is wrong.

What is your goal? Then we can offer a better direction.

Don't need direction happy with how I train. Now and again I will enquire about how others train and why just in-case there is something I am missing.

Yeah I agree pyramiding is wrong cannot see any logical benefit.

In my opinion, I think that pushing to failure for each set is best for hypertrophy, where as I think that ascending (eg 12 reps of 60kg at 50%rm, 10 reps of 70 at 75%rm, 8 reps of 80 at 100%rm) sets are best for strength that is because you keep perfect form on all sets with ascending sets but with say 3 x 100%rm your form slightly lacks for the last rep or so of each set. 3 x 100%rm also gives a higher risk of injury. There are a few other reasons that I can not think of, but basically thats why. I usually do 4 months bulking, 4 months strength, 4 months power/speed or similar.
