3J and others...

What effect does nicotine have on insulin levels? I dip, don't smoke, but I have read nicotine can hinder the release of insulin. If that is true, seems like dipping after a post workout meal would decrease insulin release and therefore decrease potential gains. Anybody have any insight? Thanks.

(I know dipping is bad mmmkay, just wondering specifically about the relationship between nicotine and insulin)

It's not so much the nicotine that impairs the action of insulin and decreases insulin sensitivity. It's
The smoking, not dip that does it, and is believed to be something besides the nicotine.

As a person that is still trying to quit his can and a half a day habit of chewing tobacco, I can tell you that nicotine causes a rush of dopamine, which is known to actually decrease insulin levels. Whether or not this is problematic for us is something I still have yet to discover in my research, but in all honesty, insulin levels are the least of our worries.

Get a pre-diabetic fasting glucose result?

This is what I don't want. Not for blood sugar levels or medical reasons, for nutrient shuttling/anabolic reasons. I will experiment a little. I notice the "pump" goes away immediately after putting a dip in.
