Refills for prescriptions

A question was posed on another board about getting a refill for their 10mL/200mg/mL prescription. Posters script was 100mg per week and pharmacy was Costco. Prescription said 5 refills until 6 months from original issue date.

The question was since the prescription should last +/- 20 weeks when can you get a refill? Who would control this? Would the pharmacy control this or the insurance company?

I had been getting a single "two week" dose (1mL 200mg/mL) every two weeks from Walmart and if I showed up to refill the prescription three or four days before the two week period, they would not fill it. It was a huge PIA. Wondering if it would be the same for a larger vial.

Just wondering if anyone had any experiences with refilling at Costco (or anywhere else) before they got really close to running out. Would be nice to adjust dose if need be. Thanks.

Last time I got my refill the pharmacist said he would see if the insurance company would let it go through. I got it refilled before I was completely out. I probably had about 3-4 weeks left. It went through. I would think you could get refills if you don't get greedy. Don't make it look like you are taking 500mg a week or anything! And it doesn't hurt to get on a first name basis with your pharmacist. People often overlook the role they can play in your testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). I always talk to them about what I am doing and they often give me useful advice. Try to stop in at a time when they are not busy and introduce yourself.
