Routine for football...?

When I came here almost a year ago I needed to lose 40-50 lbs very quickly, hence my screen name. That was for football but I ended up taking a year off. Since last year I've got down to about 315-320 from 365. I'm alot faster than I was but no stronger, as can be expected. I've been lifting regularly since December but all of my lower body work has been extremely limited due to a broken foot. The 4-5 months of lifting I took off between the summer and december was my most significant break in lifting in the past 4 years. Now here I am again, getting back into football and I need a good routine for power and speed. Bodybuilding/appearence mean nothing to me. Would something like the 5x5 be good? In about two weeks, I'll have full clearence from my foot being broken and I'd like to hit the ground running. Any tips from the vets would be greatly appreciated.

I've talked to several D1 strength coaches and through experience myself and others and this is what i have my kids focus on.

1. Getting their squat up
2. Getting the rear chain stronger (glute and ham raises , sldls,etc...)
3. Doing explosive lifting through the oly lifts
4. agility ladder, and other plyos
