I have a confession to make. I am scared of these two. Saturated fat and Insulin. Maybe I am obsessive compulsive but I want to win. I want to be healthy first then look good of course. Lets see who is gonna comment in this post. I expect zero. Anyway I've to realize that protein without saturated fat or coming from the supermarket lean or whatever tastes like shit. I refuse to eat that shit anymore. Over the years my body has accepted ANIMAL foods from my farmer or wild sources. Such a different taste. So much better in my honest opinion. Only that is super expensive. As a college student its not affordable this semester. Right now my diet is egg white protein powder, whole starches, whole grains, fruits and veggies with some good fats. Once every now and then having a grassfed burger or a sardine sandwich or something. My question is should I be worried about eating a higher fat macro diet in the future? I noticed when doing keto years ago my insulin sensitivity was shit. Triglycerides soared. That was due to the excessive saturated fat in my diet. HIGH saturated fat diets have been shown to down regulate insulin sensitivity. I now try to keep fat at 30% of overall cal intake. 10% coming from saturates. Not much at all. But I just learned that insulin plays a vital role in cholesterol biosynthesis. Which is why most people on keto also avoid HIGH carbs. I see all the 1960-70s generation eat more fatty diets than we do now. This just fucking sucks. I am not crazy for starch. I will take a fatty steak any day? Btw is it true that fat is very easily stored at those areas most insulin sensitive? I mean carbs have been shown to be more thermogenic because the liver glycogen has to be topped off before fat has to be synthesized by the body for storage. However its a energy requiring. So its gonna burn calories synthesizing those triglyceride. Anyone want to comment and give me direction? I am sorry for the long post. I know there are gurus on here who have extensive experience and dieting knowledge. So do I but I cant afford their services "right now". So doing the best I can to find answers to my questions.
